GB - Operating instructions for detachable ball rod
Operating instructions:
•
Read these operating instructions thoroughly before using the towing hitch!
•
Do not carry out any alterations or repairs to the ball rod or in its vicinity!
•
In the event of handling difficulties or peculiarities contact your approved dealer!
•
Contact surfaces and sliding surfaces are to be regularly greased with resin-free grease!
•
Check before every journey that the ball rod is correctly locked!
•
Never unlock the ball rod when the trailer is attached!
ATTENTION!
Always check the sleeve for dirt before inserting the ball rod. Any dirt present in the sleeve must be removed before
use, as this will hinder secure locking!
ATTENTION!
Never use auxiliary means or tools for attaching or detaching the ball rod. This could cause damage to the ball rod
locking mechanism, whereby the safe use of the towing hitch can no longer be guaranteed.
There is a risk of accident if this is not observed!
Fitting and removal of the ball rod is possible with normal hand strength!
Removing the ball rod
1. Clutch lever A with the right hand and press down pawl B on lever A with the thumb.
2. Turn lever A, facing the engine, downward and forward.
3. Pull out lever A to the right along the side.
4. Remove ball rod C.
5. Keep ball rod C in a safe place in the vehicle!
ATTENTION!
Never leave the ball rod lying unsecured in the boot. Not only will the ball rod endanger the vehicle passengers during
sudden braking, but it could also cause damage in the boot. In the vehicle, store the dismounted ball rod suitably for
transportation.
Fitting the ball rod
1. 2030-M: Push in ball rod C along the rear wall of locating sleeve D, so that the groove at the end of ball rod C engages
with the fixed cross pin on locating sleeve D and ball rod C abuts against the rear wall of locating fixing sleeve D.
2030-M1: Push the ball rod C into the locating sleeve D up to the stop while holding the ball in an upright position.
Push the pin on lever A from the right up to the stop through locating sleeve D and ball rod C. Holding lever A slightly turned
forward, make sure that the pin of lever A slips into the hole of locating sleeve D parallel to its axis.
2. Turn lever A backward and upward, making sure that pawl B latches into the
safety pin on ball rod C (hole E is free!).
3. Insert safety key F into hole E of safety catch B. Clip up hoop on safety key F.
IMPORTANT!
Check that lever A can no longer be turned back: only then is pawl B correctly latched. If pawl B is not latched, the ball
rod may get lost.
!! Risk of accident !!
The ball rod C may be assembled and disassembled only when trailer is disengaged.
NOTE:
In order to ensure perfect assembly, a limited amount of play on the ball rod is necessary and permissible.
Please make sure that the minimum weight carried by the towing vehicle is not less than 4% of the actual total weight of the
trailer; however, it does not have to be more than 25 kg.
The maximum permissible value must not be exceeded.
ATTENTION!
In compliance with 70/222/EC the whole of the number plate must
be visible. The ball rod must be removed when driving without a
trailer if the ball hitch is higher than the lower edge of the number
plate, as shown in the picture.
