SAFETY & SETTING UP YOUR IRON
Please read the operating instructions carefully before
using this electrical appliance!
Pay attention to the safety advice before operating the
electric appliance to avoid causing damage or personal
injury. Follow all safety instructions carefully to avoid
causing damage due to improper use! Keep the opera-
ting instructions in a safe place for future reference. If
the electrical appliance is given to a third party, these
operating instructions must also be passed onto them.
Important safety advice
Before operating this electrical appliance, you must
follow these safety instructions:
• Check that the mains voltage corresponds with the
details on the appliance's label.
• Do not operate the appliance if the power cord or plug
is damaged, following a power failure or if the applian-
ce has been dropped or other damage has occurred. In
this is the case, ensure you bring the appliance to the
nearest customer service depot, so it can be inspected
and if necessary, a repair can be carried out.
• In the event of damage being caused to the appliance,
the power cord must be replaced by the manufacturer,
an authorised customer service personnel or other
suitably qualified person to prevent the risk of an
accident.
• If the temperature control light indicates a malfunction,
this means the iron is not functioning correctly. Unplug
the appliance and have it inspected by a qualified
customer service technician.
• Always unplug the appliance from the power supply
when not in use, empty out the water and wipe the iron
over.
• Never leave the appliance unattended when it is
plugged in.
• When taking a break from ironing or when you need
to quickly leave the room, place the iron upright on its
heel on the ironing board or put it back on the base
station.
• To avoid electric shock, do not immerse the iron in
water or any other liquid.
• This appliance may be operated by children over 8
years old, by persons with reduced physical, sensory or
mental aptitude or by persons with lack of experi-
ence or knowledge, as long as they are supervised
and adhere to the user guidelines for operating the
appliance safely and are aware of the associated risks
of not doing so.
• Children must not use the appliance as a toy. The cle-
aning and maintenance of the appliance may only be
carried out by children under close supervision.
• Children must be closely supervised when using elec-
trical appliances or when these are being used in their
vicinity. Never leave the iron unattended when plugged
in or whilst sat on the ironing board.
• Ensure that children under 8 years old have no access
to the appliance or power chord, whenever it is in
operation or cooling down.
• There is the risk of burns from touching hot metal
parts, hot water or steam. Please be careful when
lifting the steam iron as hot water may escape from the
water tank.
• Never open the water fill outlet during use.
• Never overfill the iron's water tank.
• Never let the iron's power cord hang down and keep it
away from hot surfaces.
• Never touch the iron's soleplate when switched on or
immediately after it has been switched off.
• The power cord should never come into contact with
the iron's sole plate.
• Only ever use the iron for its intended purpose.
• Never use the appliance outside.
• Check that the base station is placed on a stable surfa-
ce before placing the iron onto the base station.
• The iron must only be used in conjunction with the
supplied base station.
• Ensure the iron is used on a flat and even surface.
• When unplugging the appliance from the power supply,
never pull the power chord but hold and pull the plug
carefully to disconnect it from the mains.
• Never direct steam at people or animals.
• Do not affix any foreign bodies onto the iron.
OPERATING THE APPLIANCE
Before using for the first time
1. Remove all stickers, protective foil and protective
wrapping from the iron's sole plate.
2. Heat the iron to the highest possible temperature and
iron for a few minutes over damp material to remove
any residues from the sole plate.
Mounting the base station (illustration P)
1. For more stability, fold out the clamp located on the
underside of the base station.
2. Screw the base station to the ironing board or other
stabile (e.g. a table).
Tip: you can simply place the base station on top of the
ironing board without securing it. If you choose this opti-
on, keep the clamp in its retracted position.
Filling the water tank
1. Ensure that the plug is disconnected from the mains
power.
2. Make sure that the steam controller is set to "off"
(illustration O).
3. Place the iron upright on its heel and then open water
filling cover by sliding it forwards
4. Fill the water tank using the measuring cup up to the
"max" indicator, as the maximum fill level must not be
exceeded (illustration J).
5. Close the water tank's cover and place the iron back on
its base station.
Tip: If the tap water in your area in very hard, we recom-
mend that you use distilled water instead of normal tap
water. If you use normal tap water, the water container
must be treated using a suitable descaling agent.
Setting the temperature
1. Put the plug in the power socket.
2. Set the cable button to

3. Turn the temperature dial to the desired setting (refer
to the care label instructions to select the required
temperature) and the temperature control light will
light up.
4. As soon as the temperature control light has gone out,
the soleplate has reached the selected temperature
