e) Leave no gap between the arm and the armband, as that would
change the reading. Avoid compressing the arm with any article of
clothing (e.g., a jersey), in which case, it should be removed.
f) Ensure that the armband with the Velcro fastener adheres
comfortably to the arm but without being too tight. Hold out the arm
over the table (the palm of the hand should be face up) so that the
armband is at the same level as the heart. Be careful not to bend
the tube.
g) Keep calmly seated for two minutes before starting measuring.
N.B.
If it is not possible to place the armband on the left arm, it may be
placed on the right arm. It is important for the measuring always to be
taken on the same arm.
10. MEASURING
a) Press the O/I button and the pump starts to inflate the armband.
The viewer will indicate if the armband pressure is increasing.
b) Once inflated, the pump stops and the pressure gradually
decreases. The armband pressure and a control value are
displayed.
c) While checking the heart beat, the heart symbol starts to flash on
the viewer and a "bip" is heard for each beat.
d) As soon as measuring is completed, a long "bip" sounds out. The
viewer will indicate the systolic and diastolic pressure as well as the
patient's heart beat frequency.
e) The result of the measuring will continue to be displayed until the
device is turned off. If none of the buttons are pressed within 5
minutes, the device disconnects automatically to save battery
power.
N.B.: If for any reason it is necessary to stop measuring blood pressure (e.g., if the patient is
unwell), simply press the O/I button. The armband pressure will fall immediately.
