3. Lift the top plate and grease the grill plates with a little oil. Lower the top plate.
4. Put the plug into the wall socket. The indicator light will now illuminate.
5. After waiting a few minutes check whether the indicator light is extinguished. Once
the indicator light has extinguished the appliance is ready for use.
operAtion - preheating (grilled cheese) sandwiches
1. Allow the appliance to preheat (see Preheating).
2. Raise the top plate to the vertical position.
3. Lay the sandwiches on the grill plate.
4. Lower the top plate.
5. Toast the sandwiches until they are golden brown.
6. Lift the top plate.
7. Remove the sandwiches from the grill plate and place them on a plate. Take care! The sandwiches are
hot.
operAtion - Grilling on one side
1. Allow the appliance to preheat (see Preheating).
2. Place a cup under the fat drain to collect excess fat.
3. Raise the top plate to the vertical position.
4. Place the food on the grill plate.
5. Grill the food until it is done. Turn the food over occasionally whilst it is being grilled to ensure that both
sides are evenly cooked.
6. Remove the food from the grill plate and place on a plate. Take care! The food is hot.
note
To obtain a larger grill surface raise the top plate into the vertical position, lift the handle, and swing
the entire top backwards; you can then heat food on both grill plates.
operAtion - Grilling on both sides
1. Allow the appliance to preheat (see Preheating).
2. Place a cup under the fat drain to collect excess fat.
3. Raise the top plate to the vertical position.
4. Place the food on the grill plate.
5. Lower the top plate until it rests on the food.
6. Grill the food until it is done. You do not need to turn the food over while it is being grilled.
7. Lift the top plate.
8. Remove the food from the grill plate and place on a plate. Take care! The food is hot.
note
The height of the top plate is adjustable. The top plate can be locked when in the top position.

cleAninG And MAintenAnce

1. Remove the plug from the wall socket,
and allow the appliance to cool down
completely.
2. Clean the grill plates after each use.
Release the grill plates by pressing on the
clamps (see Figure 2). The grill plates can
be cleaned in hot water with washing-up
liquid; use a soft cloth or a plastic washing-
up brush. Dry the grill plates thoroughly, and
replace them in the appliance.
3. Clean the appliance with a damp cloth, and
then dry thoroughly.
4. Wind the power cord around the cord reel
on the rear of the appliance.
5. Store the appliance. The appliance can be
stored either horizontally or vertically; for
vertical storage, stand the appliance on its back.
