4. Intended use
The distilling apparatus is used for mono-distillation of tap-water.
5. Setup and operation
5.1 Setup of the instrument
The attached glass part (packed separately) has to be fitted in the threaded
sockets and screwed carefully. Then tubes and mains supply have to be connected.
Caution:
When connecting the instrument to an AC power outlet, ensure that your
local supply voltage corresponds to the specifications indicated on the
instrument.
5.2 Supply
Supply is made by connection A.
First the water runs through the cooling coil, fills the boiling unit and leaks from the
water outlet B as soon as reaching the required filling level (automatic level
regulation).
The diameter of the drain tube must not be too small since in case of reflux the level
regulation does not work faultlessly. An inside diameter of the tube of 12 mm is
recommended.
5.3 Heating
The water is brought to boil by means of the heating spiral made of refined steel. A
probe at the spiral switches off the heating if there is a defect in the supply of
cooling water.
If the temperature falls below the switch-on limit of 110 °C, the heating begins to turn
on. This is done automatically as soon as the required water level in the boiling unit is
reached again. Already after approx. 3 minutes the water in the boiling unit begins
boiling.
