In the case of the subsequent installation of the towing hitch the foam cubes for acoustic baffle must be
removed from the longitudinal beams and can be replaced by the parts 1H9 864 709/710 "longitudinal
beam damping foam" if acoustic baffle is required.
The towing hitch is used together with the "longitudinal beam damping foam" which is slid on the lugs up
to the cross brace.
The damping foam cutout may have to be adapted to the lugs.
1.)
Remove the rear bumper from the vehicle.
Cut out the plastic bumper according to the inner marking (rough horizontal surface). Unscrew
impact pots on right and left from tail plate. They are no longer needed for vehicles with a towing
hitch.
Remove adhesive strips on right and left via mounting points in frame.
The adhesive strips can be seen by looking into the frame from the rear.
2.)
Insert towing hitch "A" simultaneously with the bumper into the opening of the tail plate so that the
holes "a" coincide with the mounting points on the vehicle.
Insert the enclosed screws M 10 and tighten.
(The screws are in accordance with property class 10.9 / 100)
3.)
Tighten all screws/nuts with the same torque.
Starting torques:

Secure plastic bumper again with the standard screws.

The cutout in the bumper needs to be sealed with a cover when there is no towing mode. The cover
can be ordered from a V. A. G. dealer separately and must be cut according to the inner marking in
the ball bar area.
