Putting the heating element into operation

The temperature set on the heating element is the number on the temperature dial pointed at by
the temperature arrow (see the illustration on the inside of the cover).
 Select the required water temperature with the temperature dial.
WARNING
Damaged insulation can cause death by electric shock!
 Check the heating element, mains cable and mains plug for visible signs of damage.
 Do not insert the plug in the socket if there is visible damage.
 Unplug the heating element immediately if it is damaged.
 Insert the plug into a socket as far as it will go (230 V ~ 50 Hz).

Cleaning the heating element

The heating element requires no maintenance apart from occasional cleaning. Limescale and
other deposits on the heating element can affect the heat output.
WARNING
Damaged insulation can cause death by electric shock!
 Pull out the mains plug before starting any cleaning work.
 Do not use any pointed or sharp objects for cleaning purposes.
 Make sure that you do not damage the insulation.
 Allow the heating element to cool down for at least 30 minutes.
 Take the heating element out of the aquarium.
 Clean the heating element with a cloth impregnated with vinegar.
 Rinse the heating element with clean water.
