EN 166:2001
The face-shield 5120903 has a total weight of only 130
g. On the face-shield, the shield may be flipped back to
180° on the harness. It is equipped with an elastic retention
band whose length is adjustable by a buckle mechanism
thus allowing it to be employed by users of various head
sizes. If the length of the band is adjusted in order to assure
an optimal ft, with no excessive pressure, the shield will
not move from the user's head because of any sudden
movement from the sides or from underneath. Before
employing the face-shield, the user must therefore:
- Assemble the device as follows:
• Unscrew the knobs (1)
• Remove the outer rubber washers (3A) and leave the
inner washers (3B) in position
• Insert the shield (2), ensuring that the inner rubber
washers (3B) and the screw (4) remain in position
• Reposition the outer rubber washers (3A)
• Screw the knobs (1) back down
- adjust the length of the elastic retention band so that it
wraps around the maximum circumference of the head
without pulling too tight
- adjust the tightness of the flip-back motion of the shield
using two lateral friction devices (1), so that the shield
cannot be inadvertently raised during the envisaged
working conditions yet can be raised easily when
desired, with no change in the fit.
The face-shield should be stored in an environment free
of organic vapours, at a temperature between +5° and
+30°C.
To avoid damage during transport and handling, we
recommend keeping the face-shield in its original
packaging.
To clean and disinfect, wipe with soft anti-scratch cloths or
fabric using any conventional disinfectant cleaning product
for optical care.
DO NOT USE SOLVENTS.
The protective face-shield 5120903 conforms to the
requirements of EN 166:2001 for PPE providing protection
against high-speed particles and medium impact energy.
The protective face-shield 5120903 may use for spare
parts only the original parts supplied by TECOMEC for
the protection class indicated below.
Use only the shield code 1093028A as a spare part.
To replace the shield, proceed as specified above for the
assembly procedure.
The protective face-shield 5120903 provides adequate
protection of the user's eye-area in situations where risks
from medium-energy impact are foreseen and could arise,
for example, from the presence in the work environment of
small metallic bodies at a speed no higher than 120 m/s.
If the cleaning instructions described above are followed,
the shield should not be subject to excessive wear under
normal working conditions.
Replace the shield if scratches or pointlike cuts appear
on the surface. The device should also be replaced after
any significant impact causing defects on the surface of
the shield such as grooves, cuts or dents.
Replace the complete device within no more than five
years of normal use.

N.b.: the shield support carries a dual marking as it is a
common element for two different PPE devices: in this
case, the reference marking is the one given above.
If the symbols F, B, and A are not shared both by the
eyepiece and the framework, the complete eye protection
system shall be assigned the lower rating.
If protection against high-speed particles at extreme
temperatures is required, the chosen eye protector must
be marked with the letter T immediately after the letter
representing the impact class, i.e. FT, BT or AT. If the letter
indicating the impact class is not followed by the letter T,
the eye protection device must be used only for protection
against high-speed particles at ambient temperature.
CAUTION: Eye protectors providing protection against
high-speed particles, when worn over prescription
eyewear, can transmit the impact and thus represent a
hazard to the user.
Materials in contact with the user's skin may cause allergic
reactions in some highly sensitive individuals.
The packaging and device must be disposed of in
compliance with applicable legislation at the end of their
useful lifetime.
