(*) Special models are identified with a Z in the fourth to last digit of
the code. The digits following the Z lose their original meaning and
act as the progressive number for special versions. Refer to
information on manual part 2, if present.
6. COMPONENTS AND OPERATING PRINCIPLE
Operating principles
The STULZ SpA air conditioners are designed to cool electric cabinets
with degree of protection IP54 and are suitable for industrial
environments. Their use:
Eliminates
problems
temperatures
Prevents dust and dirt present in the environment from
penetrating inside the cabinet.
Air conditioners STULZ SpA cannot be used outside safety limits
specified on the name-plate. Stulz-Cosmotec is not responsible for
any malfunctions caused by failure to comply with these
instructions. The operator bears the entire risk. The unit consists of
two independent sealed sections. In this way, the ambient air circuit
and the cabinet air circuit remain completely separate. The heat
transfer takes place through a watertight cooling circuit in which
circulates the coolant. The system functions as follows:

The compressor compresses (CO) the coolant gas, taking it to a high
pressure and temperature; the hot gas, passing through the
condenser (BC), is chilled and liquefied, releasing heat to the
environment. Pushed toward the filing system (CP) or thermostatic
valve (VT), the liquid gas drops in pressure which predisposes it to
evaporation. The return to the gaseous state occurs in the
evaporator exchanger (EV) when it contacts hot air coming from the
cabinet. In this way air releases heat to the gas that is chilled.
STRUCTURE
Fabricated in self-supporting steel
corrosion resistance. The structure can be easily inspected and at
the same time provides adequate protection for the internal
components. On unit CVE there are two lateral aluminium frame.
The components inside the structure can only be accessed by
removing the panels. This can be done by unscrewing the fixing
screws using the appropriate tools.
COMPONENTS
Refrigerant components are interconnected with copper pipes,
welded to ensure a pefect seal.
REFRIGERANT GAS
R134a (Tetrafluoroethane). It is neither toxic nor flammable and is
not harmful to the ozone layer.
COMPRESSORE
Reciprocating, rotary or scroll compressor.
CONDENSER
It is the component that allows the dissipation of heat from the
coolant gas to the environment. They can be of different type in
according on the model:
- heat exchange with copper tubes and aluminium fins
or
- microchannel type, completely made of aluminium, with copper
connections to the external piping.
FILTER GAS
It is a mixed mechanical/chemical filter that separates out all
particles of humidity from the refrigerant that passes through it
CAPILLARY OR THERMOSTATIC VALVE
It is the component that causes the coolant pressure drop on its way
to the evaporator.
Thermostatic valve is factory set during testing and must not be
tampered without instruction by STULZ SpA.
EVAPORATOR
It is the component in which heat, contained in the air of the
cabinet, is trasferred to the coolant gas
It consists of copper tubes and hydrophilic aluminium fins.
FANS
They can be of different type depending on the model: axial or
centrifugal fan with thermic protection. They are manufactured in
accordance with standard EN 60 335-1 and treated with special
rustproof plastic materials with class B insulation and class 1
protection.
The motor has IP44 degree of protection complying with standard
DIN EN 60034-5, while the noise level is within the limits imposed by
