English
♦ Take care when opening the door: the hot fumes pouring out can cause burns.
♦ Do not overfill the furnace or place objects in it which might fall when the door is opened.
♦ Do not put inflammable materials or liquids in the furnace, or substances which may give off toxic
fumes.
♦ Place the furnace on a flat, firm, vibration-free surface close to an extractor hood. Ensure that the
furnace is well away from any inflammable materials.
♦ Place the unit so that its sides are at least 15 cm from any wall or other object. Take particular care
to place the ventilation tube in a free area at least 20 cm from the closest object.
♦ Always use gauntlets and tongs to remove and put in cylinders and crucibles. Do not touch the
metal housing of the furnace when it may be hot.
♦ Handle heated materials removed from the furnace with great care: their temperature may be as
high as 1100 ºC and may therefore cause accidents.
♦ Before using the furnace for the first time, hold it at 300 ºC for 1 hour to eliminate any moisture in
the muffle.
♦ Always use the furnace under an extractor hood.
