Troubleshooting

SYMPTOM
Power light won't come on.
If none of these solutions work, reset
appliance. See RESET FUNCTION on
page 12. If appliance still does not work,
contact Masterbuilt at 1-800-489-1581.
Power light is on but appliance isn't
heating.
Appliance takes excessive amount of
time to heat up (longer than 1 hr, 15
mins.).
Appliance overheats then shuts off.
If symptom is not listed here OR in the Frequently Asked Questions section,
CAUSE
Appliance not plugged into outlet.
Breakaway power cord is loose or not
connected.
Control panel is not attached to outer
shell correctly.
Circuit breaker tripped.
Reset tripped on control panel.
Temperature dial has not been set.
Temperature setpoint already reached. Allow appliance to cool below
Appliance plugged into extension
cord.
Lid not in place.
Temperature sensor malfunctioning,
overheat sensor shutting appliance
off.
No oil or water in pot.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Check outlet connection.
Disconnect and reconnect
breakaway power cord.
Remove and reinstall. Make sure
control panel is mounted onto
the outer shell bracket to engage
safety switch.
Make sure other appliances are not
operating on the same electrical
circuit. Check circuit breakers.
See RESET FUNCTION on page 12.
Appliance will not begin heating
until temperature is set.
setpoint or enter higher setpoint.
Place appliance close to an
outlet so an extension cord is not
needed.
Close lid on appliance to retain
heat.
