Machine Set Up
Power Supply
It is recommended that the die grinder should be used on a separate
power supply, and be protected by a Residual Current Device. Any
extension cable should be no longer than 15 Metres and should be
1.5mm2 for 240v and 2.5mm2 for 110v machines.
Fitting Cutting tools: Ensure the machine is unplugged. Always use
cutting tools with a shaft diameter of 6mm. Inspect the cutting tool to be
fitted as described above. To fit the cutting tool place the point/burr shaft
in the collet ensuring at least 75% of the shaft length is in the collet. Using
the spindle lock spanner ensure the spindle cannot rotate. Engage the
collet spanner on the collet and rotate clockwise and tighten securely.
Die Grinder Safety
Operating Advice
Always securely clamp the material to be cut in a vice or other suitable
restraining device. Always hold the grinder with both hands. This will
allow you greater control when operating. To start the tool, you must
depress the main switch to power the motor. When starting to cut, apply
the cutting tool to the material slowly, using light pressure at first, and
then continue with normal pressure. Do not force the tool – let the speed
do the work. Cutting performance will not improve by applying more
pressure; excessive pressure will lead to cutting tool life and motor being
reduced. Keep the tool clean of swarf and other dirt and debris. Always
switch the grinder off using the switch, do not simply disconnect the plug
to stop the appliance. If for some reason the appliance is unplugged or
power is lost when in use it is important to switch off using the on/off
switch before restoring power.
Work piece Clamping
Position the work piece in a vice or other suitable restraining device;
never hold the work piece in your hand. This allows both hands to hold
the grinder enabling greater control whilst operating.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Keep tool and cord clean. Regularly vacuum or blow out the motor unit to
keep its ventilation clear. Inspect weekly. Avoid using cleaning products,
which include benzene, trichloroethelene, chloride, and ammonia as
these can damage plastic parts. In case of electrical or mechanical
malfunction, immediately switch off the tool and disconnect the plug.
Brush Inspection and Replacement
Excessive sparking may indicate the presence of dirt in the motor or
worn out carbon brushes. Check for wear after the first 50 hours of use
and then at 10 hours use intervals. Replace when they reach 7.5mm.
The brush holders are located inside the motor housing opposite each
other and unscrew to allow access to the brushes. For all other service
and maintenance, take the machine to an authorised service centre after
typically 60 cutting hours, dependent upon the type of workload it has
endured.
Lubrication
Your machines motor bearings are lubricated at the factory with sufficient
lubricant to last for the lifetime of the unit under normal operating
conditions. Other movable parts can be lubricated with light machine
oil as necessary. It is recommended that the machine be taken to the
nearest SERVICE CENTER or HiTech USA, Iowa, if in the USA, at least
once a year for a thorough cleaning and lubrication. All repairs and
servicing made by these centres are fully guaranteed against defective
materials and workmanship.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them
as waste. All tools, hoses and packaging should be sorted,
taken to the local recycling center and disposed of in an
environmentally safe way.
