DESCRIPTION
The ASTRO NOVA is a time switch designed to control lighting based on sunrises
and sunsets hours. It is equipped with a programme which automatically adjusts
the turning on an off of lights each week, without the need for maintenance.
The reduced size of the switch, composed of just two modules, makes it ideal for
installation in control panels with limited space availability.
The ASTRO NOVA has two circuits: "C2" is astronomic (it switch on at sunset and
switch off ant sunrise); "C1" can be assigned four programms:
- P0: The whole night disconnected;
- P1: the whole night connected. From sunset to sunrise.
- P2: Programm with partial turn-off.
- PH: Programm with partial turn-off, normally used on holydays eves.
INSTALLATION
ATTENTION: Electrical devices must be installed and assembled by an authorized
installer. They should be installed in switchboard cabinets made of 35 mm
symmetric sections in accordance with EN 50 022.
CONNECTION
Example of electrical connection:

1
VERY IMPORTANT: The switch is protected internally against interference by a
safety device. However, particularly strong electromagnetic fields may alter its
operation.
Such interference can be avoided by adhering to the following recommendations
during installation:
-
The device should not be installed near inductive loads (motors, transformers,
contactors, etc.).
-
A separate power line is recommended (equipped with a network filter if
necessary).
-
Inductive loads should be equipped with interference suppressors (varistor, RC
filter).
If the timer switch is to be used in combination with other devices in an installation,
it is necessary to verify that no parasitic disturbances will be caused by the group.
START-UP AND PROGRAMMING
The ASTRO NOVA comes from the factory with the date and time programmed. If
you need to change the date or hour, read "Programming the date and time" below.
Winter/Summer hour change is set to last Sunday in March and Summer/Winter is
set to last Sunday in October. If you need to change it, read "Programming
daylight-saving time changes" below.

Normal operating mode
The display shows the current time: hour and minute separated by two blinking
dots and the day of the week (1 = Monday) indicated by an arrowhead. It also
indicates whether or not the circuits are activated, and if they are permanently
activated.
General rules
The following rules apply to all of the ASTRO NOVA's programming modes:
-Data are modified in blocks which are identified by blinking. In these instructions
they are indicated by underlining.
-Each time the keys ↓ and ↑ are pressed, the blinking block in a unit increases or
decreases. If pressed for more than 0.6s, the increase/decrease speed changes to
5 units per second.
-The OK button changes to the next block.
-Once the last block has been confirmed with an OK, the programme returns to
Normal Operating Mode.
-If no buttons are pressed for 1 to 2 minutes, the programme returns to Normal
Operating Mode.
-These instructions contain tables to assist with programming:
-The first column (Function) indicates which function is to be programmed
-The second column (Display) indicates what is shown on the display;
underlining indicates that the data is blinking.
-The third column (indication) identifies the display symbols which are active
in the current function.
-The fourth and last column (Range) indicates the range of values which may
be assigned to the data being programmed.

Ast.- Geographic zone
This programming allows the user to choose the geographic zone (see Fig. 4)
where the device is to be installed. Programming is initiated by pressing key Ast.
When programming the offset (hours and minutes) of sunset and sunrise, the
assigned data in the map should be introduced. Example: the indicated area in Fig.
4 is "A 09" and offset, both sunset and sunrise, are "1:36". If you want to advance
or to delay sunrise and/or sunset, you should decrement or increment offset.

Programms description
There are four different programms. P0, P1, P2 and PH. Their function is as follows
(see Fig. 3):
- P0: The whole night disconnected;
- P1: The whole night connected. From sunset to sunrise.
- P2: Programm with partial turn-off. It conects at sunset, disconect at S1, conect at
S2 and disconect at sunrise.
- PH: Programm with partial turn-off. It conects at sunset, disconect at S3, conect
at S4 and disconect at sunrise.

These programmes only work on circuit C1. Circuit C2 always operates using
programme P1.
If the symbols "- - : - -" are assigned to an S1 to S4 schedule during programming,
this means that the action will not take place. In order to do this, press keys ↓ and ↑
simultaneously.
