INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Tools required for installation are an electric drill and a pop-rivet gun.
You will firstly need to install the new tail piece as follows:
1. Place boom tail in a clamp. Make sure that the clamp has padded jaws.
2. Using a drill bit no larger than 6mm (7/32"), drill off the head of the rivet that fixes
the tail cleat to the boom tail.
NOTE: IDo not use a drill bit larger than 6mm as you could make the hole too large for a secure
fit with the supplied rivet.
3. Push the remaining body of the rivet into the tail tubing and snap the standard tail
cleat off the boom tail.
4. With the two pulleys facing up (refer to the writing on the boom to confirm which
side is the top), snap the 3-pulley tail piece onto the boom tail and center on the
existing rivet hole.
5. Using the supplied Stainless Steel rivet and a pop-rivet gun, rivet the tail piece
securely on the tail.
Set up the outhaul as shown in the diagram:
1. Align the plastic clamps (CL111) about 20cm aft of your rear hand position, and
insert the aluminum cleats (CL244) with teeth facing forward. The plastic clamp
should not be able to move on the boom arm*. Screw the assembly together with
the Stainless Steel screws (as supplied).
*NOTE: If the plastic cleat is moving on the boom arm, use a rubber/EVA shim to 'pack out' the
boom arm and secure the plastic cleat. 2 x EVA shims are supplied in the kit for this purpose.
