ATTENTION
- Never use the equipment with a head wind or at wind speeds of more than 25 km/hr.
- When treating rows of crops in both directions point the equipment forwards when the wind is at your back, and backwards when it is in your
face.
- If the wind blows side on, start treatment from the edge of the treatment area furthest from the wind direction. The best wind for using the
equipment comes from the sides, i.e. at 90º to the direction in which the user moves.
SUPPLY KNAPSACK
So that one will not so often have to screw and unscrew the 1.5-L. bottle, or go looking for water, a feeder knapsack of capacity 5 or 12 litres is
available as an option.
This knapsack is strapped to the back. It has a plastic tube linking it to the connector on component nº 458 (Drawing E). Stopper nº 457 must
first be removed.
When the plastic tube is connected, upturn the equipment and the bottle. Rest it on the ground and open shut-off valve on the knapsack. Bottle
nº 816 is charged by gravity. When it is full, reverse positions to start working.
FILLING THE BOTTLE
Unscrew bottle nº 816 from the equipment. Fill it and in the same position screw it tight, while holding the equipment steady. Do not upturn the
equipment on the ground until you start work, as the product would fall out even before starting. (See drawing E).
SPRAYING AND STOPPING
When you wish to start work, do as follows:
1. Start the motor by switching on switch nº 314 (See drawing G).
2. Upturn the equipment and bottle on the floor, maintaining the angles and heights according to the crop to be treated as shown in drawings
F-F1.
To finish work, do as follows:
1. Turn the equipment and bottle the opposite way up from the working position.
2. Disconnect switch nº 314 (See drawing G) and leave the equipment and bottle in the same position to prevent drops of product falling onto
the ground.
BATTERY LIFE AND OPERATING RANGE. MAINTENANCE
Battery life depends on its type and origin. New alkaline batteries will last for approximately 12-15 hours.
For a longer battery life, remove the batteries when the sprayer is not to be used for a long period of time.
ALTERNATING USE OF THE BATTERIES
Batteries will last longer if they are allowed to rest every so often. Therefore, we recommend using two sets of batteries, alternating the complete
set every two hours.
MAINTENANCE AND RULES FOR AFTER SPRAYING
It is most important to adhere to the following instructions.
- The sprayer should ALWAYS be cleaned after use, before the chemical can adhere permanently to the liquid circuit.
- Clean the bottle thoroughly using water and, if possible, shaking a solvent such as kerosene, gasoline, etc. inside the bottle.
- Start up the motor and spray the whole contents of the bottle over a crop-free area.
- Clean and dry the outside of the sprayer before putting it away.
- This is necessary for two reasons:
1) to maximize the lifetime of the sprayer,
2) not to damage other areas when the same sprayer is used with other chemicals or on crops.
- For long-term storage it is best to keep the device folded, with the spinning cog protected by its hood, in a dry place, covered with a cloth or in
a bag.
MOST FREQUENT MALFUNCTIONS AND THEIR SOLUTION
The following table shows the most frequent reasons for poor sprayer behaviour, their causes and remedies.
PROBLEM
- Motor does not start, or works only
intermittently.
- Motor runs at low speed.
- Unusual noise in motor.
- Liquid does not reach spray wheel (no
spray or intermittent spray with device
running).
CAUSE
1) Batteries flat.
2) Batteries wrongly installed.
3) Distributor disc jammed.
4) Broken or loose cables, or dirty poor
connections.
5) Faulty motor.
1) Batteries discharged.
2) Spinning cog is rubbing.
3) Faulty motor.
1) Electrical connections to motor are
incorrect.
2) Corrosion in motor.
1) Nozzle obstructed.
SOLUTION
1) Change batteries.
2) Fit batteries correctly.
3) Position disc correctly. If bent or broken,
replace it.
4) Check that motor and battery
connections are correct.
Check that battery contact is good and
spring pressure correct.
5) Repair or change motor.
1) Change batteries.
2) Position cog correctly. If bent or broken,
replace it.
3) Repair or change motor.
1) Fit correctly.
2) Repair or change motor.
1) Clean with suitable material.
