07. CLEANING AND CARE

DANGER of electric shock as a result of moisture
Remove the mains plug from the socket before cleaning the kettle.
The kettle, the base, the connecting cord and the mains plug must not
be immersed in water or other liquids.
¯
DANGER of injury as a result of scalding
The kettle gets very hot during operation. Allow it to cool before
cleaning.
CAUTION! Material damages
Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
After each use
If possible, clean the appliance after each use.
1. Remove the mains plug from the socket.
2. If required, wipe the kettle, the base and the connecting cord with a damp
cloth. Afterwards, wipe with a dry cloth.
3. Allow all parts to dry completely before storing them or using the appliance
again.
Cleaning the scale filter
1. Open the lid.
2. Remove the scale filter
3. Clean the scale filter with a damp dishcloth and in running water.
4. Insert the scale filter until it locks in place with an audible click.
Descaling
1. After some time, lime deposits will form on parts of the kettle (depending
on the hardness of the water used). These should be removed at regular
intervals; otherwise, the power consumption of the appliance will increase.
2. Remove the top end of the scale filter from the inner surface.
3. Remove the scale filter by lifting it out of the kettle. If there are lime deposits
in the filter, place it into the kettle during descaling.
4. Fill descaler into the kettle. Use commercially available descaler, e.g. des-
caler for coffee machines. Follow the instructions on the packaging of the
descaler. For details on the further steps refer to the instructions for use of
the descaler. After descaling, rinse the kettle several times, if necessary.
