We recommend that you install a ball shut-off valve in front of the pump so the
pump can be replaced at a later time without completely draining the system (see
Laing accessories type KH ½").
Pumps with housings 10 and 9 already contain integrated check and ball shut-
off valves in the pump housings. (The check valve opens and closes automati-
cally; when the handle of the ball shut-off valve is perpendicular to the pipe direc-
tion, the valve is shut).

7 Installation

For figure 7a
Only install in dry, frost-proof rooms in one of the permitted mounting positions.
For figure 7b:
On pumps with a timer, the motor housing may be turned so that the timer is
across from the pump housing so that the timer may be seen more easily. Loos-
en the union nut before installation. Rotate the motor housing to the required
installation position. Tighten the union nut. When installing the S1 in a horizontal
position, it may be turned in the range from 11:30 to 1:30 at maximum in order
to maintain protection class IP .
The customer must take appropriate isolation measures and provide appropriate
acoustic insulation to reduce possible noise transmission.

6 Installation Sequence (see figure 6)
Normally, when using versions with pump housing 70, use the
Laing RV ½" check valve. This prevents water from flowing back
through the pump when the water valve is opened, thus causing
damage. When using valves other than RV ½", pay attention to
appropriate closing pressure. Install the RV ½" check valve in the
direction of flow, so that the arrows on the pump housing and on
