General
The RS range of electronic lighting transformers are designed for use
with low voltage downlights, free standing and track mounted
spotlights.
Due to their compact construction the units are ideal for mounting in
applications where heat dissipation from conventional transformers or
space restrictions could be a problem.
The transformers can be used in 'one fitting one transformer'
applications or used to power several lamps connected in parallel, up
to the maximum ratings, eg RS stock no. 293-0521 will power 2 x 50
watt or 5 x 20 watt lamps.
Location
For satisfactory operation the transformers must be placed in a
ventilated area away from any mineral wool or similar insulating
material.
Avoid twisting of wires and siting directly above the low voltage light
fitting where the heat generated may cause local overheating of the
transformer.(figure 2)

Die elektronischen Beleuchtungstransformatoren dieser RS Serie
wurden konzipiert für Niederspannungs-Tiefstrahler sowie für
freistehende und auf Schienen montierte Punktstrahler.
Dank ihrer kompakten Bauweise eignen sich diese Transformatoren
hervorragend für alle Anwendungen, bei denen der Einsatz
konventioneller Transformatoren hinsichtlich der Wärmeableitung und
des zur Verfügung stehenden Einbauraums Probleme mit sich bringen
würden.

Installation
Disconnect mains supply before installation.
The switching of the electronic transformers must be carried out on the
input 230-240V supply side, to current IEE Wiring Regulations, using
conventional electrical wiring accessories. Both transformers are
suitable for dimming when fully loaded using all types of conforming
dimmers including those termed 'hardfired'.
Note: Always work within the minimum and maximum loading limits
of the dimmer.
Warning
When carrying out insulation checks on low voltage lighting schemes
using electronic transformers ensure that all units are disconnected.
Radio frequency interference
In common with all high frequency converters their principle of
operation leads to the emission of radio interference. The transformers
are suppressed to the BSEN55015 limits but under certain conditions
some breakthrough noise may be experienced on the medium and
long wave radio bands. Where possible avoid siting the transformers
near to or on the same circuit as equipment likely to be affected in this
way. Adding to the length of the cable provided at the output will
increase the level of RFI.

Die Transformatoren können sowohl einzelne Lampen versorgen als
auch mehrere parallel geschaltete Lampen, sofern die jeweiligen
Nennwerte eingehalten werden. So kann der elektronische
Transformator mit der RS Best.-Nr. 293-0521 wahlweise entweder
zwei Lampen mit je 50 Watt oder fünf Lampen mit je 20 Watt speisen.
Montageort
Damit der einwandfreie Betrieb sichergestellt ist, müssen diese
Transformatoren an einem belüfteten Ort mit Abstand zu Mineralwolle
oder ähnlichen Isolierstoffen montiert werden.
Die Anschlußleitungen dürfen nicht miteinander verdrillt werden.
Außerdem dürfen die Transformatoren nicht so montiert werden, daß
sie sich direkt oberhalb einer Niederspannungslampe befinden, deren
Wärmeentwicklung zu einer örtlich begrenzten Überhitzung des
Transformators führen könnte (siehe Abb. 2a und 2b).
