EXPRESSING BREASTMILK

Our Dr. Brown's ® Breast Pump is a whole new way
to think about expressing breastmilk. It features a
new compression technology and super-soft flexible
breastcups.
Once your pump is cleaned and assembled, you are
ready to begin pumping.
Ge ing Started
Make sure your hands and breasts are clean.
Position the Breastcup, nipple
centered, to your breast just firm
enough to ensure a complete seal
with no air leaks.
Moms often achieve Let-Down with short, quick
squeezes as these are similar to the fast, non-nutritive
sucking motion of baby during the first phase of
breastfeeding. This should initiate milk flow which is
known as Let-Down. Let-Down is the biological
trigger to release breastmilk and it's the first step
for a successful pumping session.
Breastmilk should begin to flow and collect in the
bottle. Even if you do not experience milk flow
immediately, continue pumping for a few minutes.
Your first few times expressing may not yield any
milk. This is normal. Never exceed minutes of
pumping without milk flow.
Begin pumping by squeezing
the Handle.
Expressing
Once you have Let-Down,
continue to pump at a rate that
is comfortable for you. Longer,
slower squeezes often yield
the most milk flow as these are
similar to the actual nursing
phase of breastfeeding.
Press side of breast to break
suction.
