Children and pets
• Keep children and pets at a safe distance from the work area. Lock tools
away where children cannot gain access
Use the correct tool
• Do not force or attempt to use a tool for a purpose for which it was not
designed. This tool is not intended for industrial use
Wear suitable clothing and footwear
• Do not wear loose fitting clothing, neckties, jewellery, or other
items which may become caught. Wear non-slip footwear or, where
appropriate, footwear with protective toe caps. Long hair should be
covered or tied back
Keep your balance
• Do not over-reach. Keep proper footing at all times and do not use tools
when standing on an unstable surface
Accessories
• The use of any attachment or accessory, other than those mentioned in
this manual, could be dangerous and result in damage or injury, and may
invalidate your warranty
Never stand on your tool
• Standing on your tool or its stand could cause serious injury if the tool
is tipped or collapses. Do not store materials above or close to the tool
in such a way that a person might stand on the tool to reach the stored
items
Secure work
• Where possible, always secure work. If appropriate, use a clamp or vice
so that both hands are free to operate the tool
Check for damaged or missing parts
• Before each use, check if any part of the tool is damaged or missing.
Carefully check that it will operate properly and perform its intended
function. Check alignment of moving parts for binding. Any guard or other
part that is damaged should be immediately repaired or replaced by an
authorised service centre. DO NOT USE IF DEFECTIVE
Internal Combustion Safety
Dangerous environment
• D o not use petrol tools in damp or wet conditions or expose them to
rain. Provide adequate work space and keep area well lit
• D o not use petrol tools where there is a risk of explosion or fire from
combustible material, flammable liquids, flammable gases, or dust of
an explosive nature
Protect yourself from vibration
• H and held tools may produce vibration. Vibration can cause disease.
Gloves to keep the operator warm may help to maintain good blood
circulation in the fingers. Hand held tools should not be used for long
periods without a break
Protect your hearing
• A lways wear suitable hearing protection when tool noise exceeds 80dB.
It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that other people in the
vicinity are also suitably protected
Switch off before connecting
• E nsure the engine has stopped before connecting any accessories to
the tool. If the tool stops working unexpectedly ensure the engine is not
running before attempting to check the tool
Running in the engine
• When the tool is new only run the engine at moderate speed
• Do not maintain high engine speed until the engine is fully run in
• T he engine will not be capable of developing maximum power until the
end of the running in period
• W hen first using the tool, stop and make sure that all nuts and screws
are securely fastened and tighten them as necessary
• D o not use fuels containing methanol or ethanol as these may cause
internal damage to the fuel tank and fuel lines

Servicing
• I t is recommended that the tool is serviced shortly after its first use
• Ensure the tool is regularly serviced when in use
• D o not attempt to alter any of the components of this tool. To do so
would not only invalidate the guarantee, but may also result in injury
• A lways have the tool serviced at an authorised service centre
Storage
• When you have finished using the tool, clean it thoroughly
• B e careful not to hit or cut the fuel tank, or fuel lines, when the tool is
placed on the ground
• Do not let the tool fall or it may be damaged and become unsafe
• Store the tool away from direct sunlight
• E nsure that fuel and oil is stored in a safe place, away from heat, direct
sunlight, any source of ignition, and out of reach of children
Whenever the machine is out of use for an extended period of time,
proceed as follows:
• Empty the fuel tank completely
• Protect all metal engine parts from corrosion by coating them with oil
• R emove the spark plug, put a few drops of oil into the cylinder and then
pull the recoil starter 2 to 3 times in order to distribute the oil evenly
• Replace the spark plug and spark plug lead
THIS PRODUCT PRODUCES POISONOUS EXHAUST FUMES
AS SOON AS THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. THESE GASES MAY
BE COLOURLESS AND ODOURLESS. TO REDUCE THE RISK
OF SERIOUS OR FATAL INJURY, NEVER RUN THE MACHINE
INDOORS OR IN POORLY VENTILATED AREAS. ENSURE
PROPER VENTILATION WHEN WORKING IN TRENCHES OR
OTHER CONFINED SPACES.
Generator Safety
The generator is designed to give safe and reliable service if operated
according to this manual. Read and understand this manual before
operating the generator. You can prevent accidents by familiarising
yourself with the generator's controls and safe operating procedures.
Operator Responsibility
• Know how to stop the generator quickly in an emergency
• E nsure you know how to use all the generator controls, output
receptacles and connections
• E nsure anybody who operates the generator has received proper
instruction. Do not let children operate the generator
• Never leave the tool running unattended
• A lways wait until the machine has come to a complete stop before
leaving it
• Never leave the machine unattended when parts are still hot
• Never leave machine unattended where children may have access to it
Carbon Monoxide Dangers
• T he generators exhaust fumes contain poisonous carbon monoxide gas,
which is both colourless and odourless. Breathing the exhaust fumes
can cause loss of consciousness and may lead to death
• I f the generator is running in an enclosed or even partially enclosed
space, the air could contain dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
Ensure adequate ventilation to prevent build-up of exhaust fumes
Electric Shock Hazards
• T he generator produces enough electric power to cause a serious shock
or electrocution if not correctly used
• U sing the generator in wet conditions, rain, snow, near ponds or
sprinkler systems or even wet or damp hands could result in death
