1 - Installing the main earth rod or "Basic earth rod" of the energizer :
Ineffective earthing is often the cause of the poor operation of an energizer.
For an earth rod to be really effective, it is important that it is located in wet ground. So choose a depression rather than a bank along the
perimeter of the installation. Likewise, preferably choose an area where the ground is fertile and/or clayey as it has more minerals and will
conduct electricity better than in a sandy or rocky area.
Do not hesitate to use a tractor loader to dig the necessary holes for installing the earth rods.
The ULTRA LOW IMPEDANCE technology of this energizer entirely depends on the quality of the earth rod connection. Performance will
fall drastically if it is not "perfect". The earth rods necessary for this type of earth rod connection should preferably be made of galvanized
steel, with a required length of 2 metres and spaced at 4-metere intervals (connected to each other by a large diameter galvanized steel
cable of the SECURGAL type). The minimum number of earth rods is 5 for this energizer in the most suitable ground, but this number can
increase to more than ten for difficult ground ! The quality of the earth rod connection can be improved still further if you can use 3-metre
earth rods to reach a "deep" soil that conducts better.
Useful tip : After making the holes for laying your basic earth rod connections, fill the hole with a mixture of bentonite Lacmé. In this way,
the moisture in the soil will be stored around the earth rod and significantly improve its performances.
Examples of 2 types of bovine installations according to soil type :
- Wet or good conductive soil : Connect the earth terminal of the energizer to your basic earth rod and connect the electric output terminal
to the fencing wires also known as "hot wires" (see diagram 1 below).
2 m
- Dry or poor conductive soil with large animals : Connect the earth terminal of the energizer to your basic earth rod and to the lowest wire
of the three-wire installation, then connect the electric output terminal to the fencing wires also known as "hot wires". Namely : hot wire on
the top and in the middle, neutral wire below (see diagram 2 below).

2 - OPTIONAL - Installing the "Reference earth rod" of the energizer :
In order to be able to regularly check the quality of the installation's main earth rod, a separate additional "reference earth rod" must be
installed.
The reference earth rod does not have to be installed with as much care as that required for the basic earth rods. You can use a standard
LACME 2 x 30 cm earth rod connection kit or a simple metre-long LACME earth rod. All you then have to do is install this reference earth
rod more than 5 m away from the basic earth rod of the energizer. However, as with the main earth rod, you must keep a distance of 10 m
between the reference earth rod and any other earth installation of the domestic electricity network, telephone cables or any other network.
