The CS1700 is a proximity card reader/door control module used to expand the
capabilities of the CSx75 series of control panels.
Features of the CS1700 door controller/prox card reader:
microprocessor controlled door control module.
includes 1 low current trigger output, which can be used to control a door strike relay.
up to 15 readers can be connected to the CS375/CS575/CS875 control panel.
can be programmed to control access in any or all partitions.
LEDs can be programmed to follow the output and/or the armed or ready status of
the system.
has an optional optical tamper switch.
A 2. CS1700 W
Wire
Connect to the control panel DATA terminal. This wire is the data signaling terminal to all the
GREEN (DATA)
devices on the bus.
Connect to the control panel COMMON terminal. This wire supplies the common side of the power
BLACK (COM)
to the CS1700 board.
Connect to control panel AUX POWER + terminal. This wire supplies power to the CS1700 board.
RED (POS)
This is an optional EGRESS input. To use this feature, connect the normally open egress switch
WHITE (EGRESS)
between this terminal and COM. If this feature is not used, there is no need to connect this wire.
This is an optional open-collector OUTPUT. To use this feature, connect the coil contacts of a relay
BLUE (OUTPUT)
between this terminal and AUX POWER +. Absolute maximum 14 volts @ 25mA.

Unlike most CSx75 expanders, the address of any particular reader is determined by itself
once installation is complete. It is the first step in programming the reader. To install a
reader, do the following:
1.
Wire the CS1700 reader into the system.
2.
Enter Program Mode using the procedure outlined in the control panel Installation
Manual.
3.
When prompted to enter the module device number, a card must be scanned at the
reader, which initiates its addressing mode. When it has completed addressing itself
(this happens almost instantly), the reader will beep back its address:
