Operation
(Continued)
9. With water at the drain opening,
press the drain cleaner firmly into
the drain opening, squeeze and
quickly release the gun trigger (see
Figure 4).
figure 4 - Using drain cleaner
nOtes:
- Water must be at the drain opening
for this method to work.
- For slow running drains, a pressure of
50 psi should be used. Fill sink with
water and pull drain plug. When
water is nearly gone, press drain
cleaner firmly into drain opening and
squeeze trigger. Allow water to refill
opening before discharging gun
again.
- Depending on the amount of
resistance, the recoil may be sudden,
but always low impact, causing the
gun to move about 1/8 inch.

10. If blockage is not removed, repeat
steps 1 through 9. Add more water
if necessary and increase air
pressure.
11. After blockage is removed, flush
drain using plenty of water to carry
the blockage material well away
from water lines.
12. Sink traps are usually connected
together using gaskets of rubber or
other soft material. The gaskets are
compressed at the joints with large
compression nuts, preventing leaks.
Occasionally a leak may develop
around such connections. Check
traps after using the drain cleaner
and tighten up any joint found to
be leaking (see Figure 6).

foR DoUBlE SINKS
Double sinks run to a single drain line.
One sink drain opening must be
plugged with a wet rag in order to use
the drain cleaner. Some double sinks

will have the drain offset in such a
manner that one sink drain feeds
directly down to the trap and the
second drain connects to a "T" on the
side of the first one (see Figure 7). If
your sink is arranged in this manner,
use the drain cleaner on the side that
feeds straight down to the trap,
plugging off the other side.
Offset
figure 7 - Double sink with "t" drain
connection
If your sink drain connect to a single
drain line such as the one shown in
Figure 8, simply plug one side with a
wet rag and use in the same manner as
described in the paragraph above.
Not Offset

line connection
nOte: When plugging off the drain,
place the sink basket in position as if
you were closing off the drain and hold
the wet rag over the top while using
the drain cleaner (see Figure 9).
