6.3 Viscosimeter calibration

This menu is used for viscosity and temperature calibration.
IMPORTANT:
a) The viscosimeter comes factory calibrated with the corresponding certificate.
b) Periodical calibration of the viscosimeter is essential to get reliable and traceable
measurements, but if this calibration is not properly done, it could cause a large error
in measurements.
c) The equipment is ready to be calibrated by the user, but you must have the
necessary material and have the adequate knowledge on viscosity measurement.
d) J.P. SELECTA, S.A. is not liable for any measurements taken once the equipment
has been recalibrated by the user.
e) «Factory» calibration can always be recovered. This is useful when we get
questionable results after a calibration.
Materials needed for viscosimeter calibration:
a ) Standard oils:
They should be silicone oils of the following viscosities:

thermometer to compare the temperature measured by the viscosimeter with the one
indicated in the thermometer.
Considering that the difference between both is unacceptable, you must adjust the
measurement circle. To do this, you need a pT100 probe simulator at temperatures of
0ºC, 30ºC and 100ºC.
Factory calibration recovery (Reset):
Make a viscosimeter «reset». This means that the viscosimeter recovers the original
factory calibration, in terms of viscosity and temperature.
Select RESET (Fig 6.6) and the RESET message will appear (Fig 6.7).
To proceed with the process, press «ENTER». Otherwise, press «QUIT».
