• The De-icer should not be used if the electrical supply cable is damaged in any way. If a
cable with damaged insulation is submerged in water, there is danger of water seeping
into the De-icer and causing a short. The electrical cable cannot be replaced. If the cord is
damaged, the De-icer should be discarded. Altering the electrical cable in any way will void
the warranty.
ATTENTION
Installation
WARNING: Caution should be taken when working near frozen ponds. Never walk on thin
ice. Your safety should always be the highest priority.
First place the unit in the pond. The De-Icer should be positioned over the deepest part of
the pond. If the pond surface is already frozen, fill a pot of suitable size with boiling water,
attach a cord to it and place it on the frozen surface. The hot pot will eventually melt a hole
through the ice surface. Once a suitably large hole is created, install the unit. Never break or
chop at the ice as the shock waves can stress or kill pond fish.
The primary function of the De-Icer is to maintain a small opening at the surface of the
pond to allow efficient gas exchange. Efficient heating element only draws 300 watts when
needed to keep operating costs low. This Pond De-Icer will not completely clear the pond
of ice or warm pond water significantly.
WARNING: Pond De-Icer must float for proper operation. Do not install under pond
netting where heavy snow or debris might force the De-Icer below water level.
Operation
When you are satisfied with the position of the De-Icer, plug the electrical cord into the
GFCI protected electrical outlet. The green indicator light will illuminate showing that the
De-Icer is Heating Mode. This will happen every time power is first supplied to the unit
regardless of water temperature, so you can see that the internal heating element is
working. Once the De-Icer reaches an optimal internal temperature it will switch to standby
mode and the indicator light will change to blue.
When the temperature of the water immediately surrounding the De-Icer drops to 35
degrees, the De-Icer will enter Heating Mode and glow green. When the temperature of the
water immediately surrounding the De-Icer reaches 45 degrees, the De-Icer will re-enter
Standby Mode and glow blue again. The cycle will automatically repeat, keeping a ring
of water around the De-Icer ice-free all winter. This unit has been tested in temperatures
below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
Warranty
The Atlantic De-Icer carries a one-year limited warranty. This limited warranty is extended solely
to the original purchaser commencing from the date of original purchase receipt and is void if
any of the following apply:
• The De-Icer has been operated out of water.
• The cord has been cut or altered.
• The De-icer has been misused or abused.
• The De-Icer has been disassembled.
