Connect the E3 cables to the appropriate BNC connectors on the front of the unit.
Verify the E3 connection via the LNK/ALM LED on the front of the unit. A
pulsing green LNK/ALM LED (once per second) indicates that the E3 connection
is established and operational.
Plug in the local Ethernet connection and verify the physical link by the LNK LED
on the front of the unit. The unit will not present Ethernet Link until the E3 line is
operational.
For most applications, use a straight-through Ethernet cable when
plugging the Provider into a PC, and use a cross-over cable when
plugging into a hub or a switch. Verify the pinout of the Ethernet device
into which you are connecting the Provider to determine which type of
cable is required. The pinout of the Ethernet port is shown in Table 2-2.

Once the units have established both E3 and Ethernet link, normal data
communication will flow. This will provide a very long Ethernet connection at E3
speeds.
