Connecting a VCR or DVD player to your
DVD receiver
You can connect a VCR or DVD player to your
DVD receiver in order to enjoy your home theater
system's surround sound capabilities.

To connect a VCR or DVD player (1) to your
DVD receiver using the AUX IN jacks (2):
1 Connect the AUDIO OUT jacks (left-white
and right-red) of your VCR or DVD player to
the AUDIO IN AUX 1 or AUX 2 jacks of your
DVD receiver.
2 Before starting operation, press the
SOURCE button to switch the DVD receiver
input to AUX.
AUX IN 1 shows AUX 1 IN on the display
AUX IN 2 shows AUX 2 IN on the display
To connect a VCR or DVD player to your DVD
receiver using the COAXIAL IN jack (3):
1 Connect the COAXIAL OUT jack of your
VCR or DVD player to the COAXIAL IN jack
of your DVD receiver.
2 Before starting operation, press the
SOURCE button to switch the DVD receiver
input to COAXIAL. The display shows COAX
IN.

Remote control batteries

The remote control requires two AAA (RO3)
batteries (included). We recommend that you
replace the batteries on a yearly basis or when
the operation of the remote control becomes
intermittent or unsatisfactory. Replace the
original batteries with new AAA batteries.
To replace the batteries:
1 Press the lock tab of the battery holder and
open the battery compartment.

2 Place two AAA batteries in the battery holder,
matching the + and – in the battery
compartment with the + and – on the
batteries.
3 Close the battery holder.
Caution
• Use only the size and type of batteries
specified.
• Make sure that you follow the correct polarity
as indicated in the battery compartment.
Reversed batteries may damage the device.
• Do not mix different types of batteries together
(for example, Alkaline and Carbon-Zinc), or old
batteries with new ones.
• If the remote is not to be used for a long period
of time, remove the batteries to prevent
damage or injury from possible battery
leakage.
• Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to
be recharged. They can overheat and rupture.
Using your home theater
system
Turning your home theater system on and
off
To turn your home theater system on and off:
1 After making audio and video connections,
plug the power cord into a power outlet.
2 Press the STANDBY/ON button (on the
remote control or the DVD receiver) to turn
on your system.
3 Press the STANDBY/ON button again to turn
your system to standby.
Playing a DVD disc
Cautions
• Do not move the DVD receiver during playback.
Doing so may damage the DVD receiver.
• Do not push on the disc tray or put any objects,
other than discs, in the tray. Doing so may
cause the DVD receiver to malfunction.
To play a disc:
1 Press OPEN/CLOSE (

2 Insert a disc into the disc tray with the label
side up. If you are loading a double-sided
disc, load the side you want to play down.
3 Press OPEN/CLOSE (
disc tray. The disc normally starts playback
automatically. If it does not, press PLAY/

4 Set the volume to a comfortable level. Press
MUTE to mute the sound and press MUTE
again to turn the sound back on.
