Decoder Installation
The locomotive must be checked before installing the de-
coder to make sure that it (locomotive) is in good mechanical
and electrical condition. There are situations when the loco-
motive will have to be repaired before installing the decoder.
Remove the old decoder from the connector; remove the
speaker if necessary.
Plug the new decoder into the connector; make sure you
have plugged the decoder in correctly. Set the model on
the programming track with the body still off and check it
out. If the decoder works with no problems, the body can be
mounted on the locomotive.

Check to make sure that the speaker that was previously
installed has 8 Ohms resistance. If it has some other resis-
tance value, then it is best to use the speaker included with
this decoder for optimal sound quality.
Position the speaker. If necessary, fi x the speaker in place
with the adhesive pad included with this decoder. Solder
both white wires from the decoder to the wires from the
speaker and insulate these connections with the shrink tub-
ing included with the decoder.
