Select speed to provide desired nominal flow rate.

(4) Adjust Occlusion Settings on Cassettes

CAUTION: Excessive occlusion can cause high pump temperatures and early tubing and roller failure.
Do not set occlusion tighter than what is recommended in Table 3.
NOTE: With both large and small Cassettes, the scale provides nominal occlusion at the #3 — #4 setting.
With a multi-channel Cassette system, flow rate, pressure sensitivity and tubing life can be fine-tuned—even while the
pump is running. No lost time, and with operating speeds up to 200 rpm, you get higher maximum flows with the
same size tubing.
Figure 9A (large Cassette) shows the wedges adjusted at #3 on the occlusion setpoint scale for the 13 through 18
size tubing.
Figure 9B (small Cassette) shows the wedges adjusted at the #3— #4 setting on the scale for Microbore tubing.

The Occlusion Adjustment Knob (see Figures 9A and 9B) controls a screw mechanism to move the occlusion
wedges. Once a Cassette is adjusted to a desired setting for a particular application, there is no need to reset. Or, you
can record settings and quickly reproduce them at a later time.
10
