Before Use

Unpacking your hedge trimmer
Ensure that all parts of your hedge trimmer are present and in good
condition. If any part is missing, or damaged, have such parts replaced
before attempting to use this tool.
Ensure that the blade (1) mechanism is properly lubricated.
Operating Instructions
Power supply
• If it is necessary to use an extension lead, check that the lead is
specifically intended for outdoor use.
• Use of an RCD (residual current device) will reduce the chance of electric
shock when using an outdoor power tool.
Cable clamp
This machine is equipped with a cable hook (6). This feature helps to
prevent cord damage from snagging.
To use the cable hook, make a tight loop in the power cable near to the
machine. Feed the loop upwards through the hole in the handle, and
over the hook.
Switching on
Place the hedge trimmer down, and connect the mains power supply.
Pick up the hedge trimmer, hold the machine with one hand on the
front handle (3), and the other on the rear handle (5). The front handle is
equipped with an integrated safety switch.
To start the machine, squeeze the front handle, and the on/off trigger
switch (4). The machine will run until either the front handle, or the
switch, are released.
Cutting
Always keep the machine at arms length, with the blade pointed away
from your body.
Move the blade across the area to be trimmed using a smooth sweeping
motion.
Branches too thick to be cut with the machine should be sawn through
with a suitable tool.
Always be aware of the position of the power cord. Keep the power cord
well away from the cutting area at all times.

Maintenance
Always disconnect the machine from the mains power supply before
performing any cleaning or maintenance.
Blade maintenance
After every use, unsure that all waste material is removed from the blade.
Apply machine oil to all moving parts of the blade.
Connect the machine to the mains power supply, and run for a few
moments to distribute oil evenly.
Cleaning
Keep your machine clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal
parts to wear quickly, and shorten the machine's service life.
Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If
available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation
holes.
Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn.
Excessively worn brushes may cause; loss of power, intermittent failure,
or visible sparking.
