NOTE: FOR PROPER FRAMING, SEE HOUSING LOCATION GUIDELINES ON REVERSE SIDE
WARNING:
For your safety, read and understand instructions completely before starting installation. Before wiring to power supply, turn off electricity at the fuse or circuit breaker box.
NOTE:
Aculux recessed fixtures are designed to meet the latest NEC requirements and are listed in full compliance with UL. Before attempting installation of any recessed lighting fixture,
check your local electrical building code. This code sets the wiring standards and installation requirements for your locality and should be understood before starting work.
TC960 Housing Installation Instructions
To simplify housing installation and protect
internal components, remove projector assembly
as follows:
A. While holding projector, loosen and remove
two lower knobs (Fig. 1).
B. Pull support arms off pivot points and unplug
wire connector.
NOTE: Projector assembly may be stored in a safe
place during construction. See trim instructions
below for proper projector installation. For proper
framing, see housing location guidelines on
reverse side.
TYPE TC for Non-Insulated Ceilings
Aculux Type TC fixtures are designed for
installations where housing and J-Box will not
come into contact with insulation. Insulation
must be spaced 3" away from the housing and
J-Box. Blinking light after installation indicates
that improper bulb or trim is being used or
that fixture has been improperly covered with
insulation.
Installation into Joist Construction
Step 1. Extend bar hangers to
fit between joists. Bar hanger
foot is contoured to easily
align with bottom of joist.
Position fixture by
hammering Real-Nails
TM
into joists (Fig. 2).
(Note: Bar hanger may be shortened
to fit in tight joist spacing by breaking
at score lines).
Step 2. Slide fixture along bar
hangers into desired
location. Use locking screws or
slot to secure (Fig. 3).
Step 3. Follow steps 1-4 under
Electrical Connection.
Relocating Fixture — Nail can
be removed with hammer claw
to allow easy repositioning of
fixture without damaging bar
hanger or nail (Fig. 4).
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Figure 1
Installation into Suspended Ceiling
Step 1. Attach commercial brackets provided. Use
conduit, C-channel, or flat bar (HB26, HB50, LB27 not
included) to suspend fixture.
Step 2. Follow steps 1-4 under Electrical Connection.
Step 3. Install drywall or ceiling tile, cutting an 8 1/8˝
diameter hole for plaster ground to extend into.
Step 4. Inside unit, loosen four slotted screws and
adjust can down as far as possible. Edge of plaster
ground should be flush with ceiling surface. Tighten
screws.
Electrical Connection Instructions
Step 1. Provide electrical
service according to your local
electrical code to the wiring box
Figure 2
located on the plaster frame.
Supply wire insulation must be
rated for at least 90°C.
Step 2. Remove wiring

box cover. Remove the appropriate
knock-out(s) to accommodate the type of electrical
service to be used/allowed by your local electrical code
(Fig. 5):
Metal Conduit. Remove appropriate round knock-out(s)
and connect conduit to wiring box with proper connec-
tors (not supplied.)
Non-Metallic Cable. Remove appropriate knock-out(s)
from top of wiring box and insert cable, pushing it past
the cable grip. No other connector is required.
Step 3. Connect supply wires to fixture wires with prop-
er size wire nuts (not supplied), so as to cover all bare

current-carrying conductors.
Step 4. Place all wiring and connections back in wiring
box and replace cover.
