This user manual applies to the Kongskilde
RVS Separator model RVS 5000 - 20000
Preface:
This operator's manual has been prepared in accord-
ance with EU-directive 89/392EEC of 14 June 1989
regarding the convergence of member states laws
covering machines (Machinery Directive).
Marking/technical data:
See enclosed separator certificate.
Description:
The product is a separator designed to separate con-
veying air and solid material (see the front page as
well).
The separator is driven by and directly coupled to an
electric geared motor. The rotor in the separator is
suspended on the shaft of the geared motor and con-
nected to a flanged bearing at the opposite end.
The rotor is supplied with replaceable rubber blades.
Typical application:
Separation of paper, card board and plastic materials.
Warning:
The separator can not be used in the petro-chemical
industry.
The separator can not be used for long continuous
strands of material, as they would eventually foul the
rotor.
The separator must be installed in a closed system. If
it is not, it can only be switched on if both the inlet
and outlet are properly guarded.
Any foreign objects allowed into the system, intention-
ally or unintentionally, may eventually damage the
rotor.
Lack of supervision of the separator can result in wear
and/or damage to vital parts.
Using materials of a high temperature will result in a
transfer of heat to external parts.
The mounting of the separator must be as prescribed
(see mounting). Otherwise stability is reduced and
wear and tear increased.
Mounting:
The separator is lifted by the flange.
Power installation:
The circuit must be completed by a qualified electri-
cian. He/she must ensure the installation of overload
protection (the motor must never be connected to
4
power without it). He/she must also ensure the installa-
tion of a no-voltage release relay so that the motor can
never restart automatically after a power failure.
In addition to the start/stop function normally incorpo-
rated in a system control panel, a separate lockable
start/stop switch as well as an emergency stop button
must be installed no more than 3 m from each separa-
tor.
The first of these will prevent any unintentional start
during service.
All local factory inspectorate regulations must al so be
complied with.
Start-up:
Prior to start-up, check:
- that there are no foreign objects in the separator
housing or the associated duct system.
- that the direction of rotation of the separator's rotor
is correct (indicated by the arrow). The motor's
cooling fan rotates in a clockwise direction.
-
the oil level in the gear.
-
Activate the vent plug by removing the sealing cord.
-
that all parts including protective guards are
securely fastened.
Service and maintenance (see
enclosed mounting instructions):
Lubricate the flanged bearings (forced lubrication)
every 1000 running hours with a good quality ball
bearing grease.
Oil is changed for each max. 10.000h latest after two
years in use.
Oil manufacture:
The gear is provided with mineral oil, ISO VG 220,
for operation in a region of operation of ÷5 - 35°C. At
working temperatures outside this area synthetic oil is
used.
Maintain the geared motor according to the manufac-
turer's instructions.
Replace the rubber blades with those of the same type
and manufacture prescribed in the separator certifi-
cate.
