Application/Adjustment

1. Put the orthosis on a flat surface with the
blue neck part facing you. Open the white
buckle in the chest area and open the two
front buckles on the leg braces (fig. 1).

Completely unfold the orthosis in front
of you (fig. 2).

3. Lay the patient onto the belt sys-tem
and put the straps over the infant's
shoulders. Place the child's thighs into
the leg braces (fig. 3).

First, close the belt buckles on the leg
braces, then the white buckle on the
chest. The flexion abduction splint is
usually applied over the infant's romper.
(Exception: With instable hips the splint
should be worn under the romper, with
tubular cotton stockinette placed un-
derneath the orthosis to protect the
skin.) During the fitting, have a second
person hold the child's legs so the hip
joints are bent at 100° and are abduc-
ted at an angle of 50°. Now adjust the
distance between the knees (fig. 4).
