FLUSHING (Air testing is not recommended)
D
Tub and Shower Combinations
1. Remove Screws (4B) and Plasterguard (4A).
2. Turn on Hot and Cold water supply lines. Pressure must be approximately equal
on both Hot and Cold sides for valve to function properly.
3. Rotate Stem (4E) counter clockwise allowing water to flow from Tub Spout outlet
1
(4D) until all foreign matter has cleared the line. Repeat this step in the Warm
/
" and maxi-
8
and full Hot positions. Water should not be flowing from shower outlet (4C)
during this test. If water is flowing from shower outlet please check your
valve to see that the casting mark "SHWR" is facing up.
D
Shower Only Installation
1
1. Be sure "TUB" outlet is plugged with
/
" Iron Pipe Plug. (See Diagram 3)
2
2. Follow steps 1 through 2 listed above.
3. Rotate Stem (4E) counter clockwise allowing water to flow from Shower outlet
(4C) until all foreign matter has cleared the line. Repeat this step in the Warm
and full Hot positions.
4. CAUTION: If water flow becomes low or no flow at all, refer to Step (9).
PRESSURE TESTING VALVE
1
1. Use a
/
" Iron Pipe Plug (4F) on both the Shower Outlet (4C) and Tub Outlet
2
(4D). Turn Stem (4E) counter clockwise to Full on position and check all connec-
tions for leaks.
2. Rotate Stem (4E) clockwise to turn off.
3. CAUTION: Slowly remove Pipe Plugs from Tub and Shower outlets, to
relieve pressure.

TUB SPOUT INSTALLATION
1. Put TeflonR tape or thread sealant on both threaded ends of the pipe nipple (7A).
Screw the pipe nipple into the elbow inside the wall and tighten with a pipe
wrench.
Note: Use a pipe nipple which will project 3–7/8" to 4" from the finished wall. If your
installation includes a tub spout trim ring, the pipe nipple should protrude 4–3/16"
to 4–5/16" (7B).
2. Place the protective washer (7C) over the pipe nipple.
3. If your tub/shower kit includes a spout trim ring (7F), place it over the protective
washer (7C), and place a second protective washer(7G) over the trim ring (7F).
4. Thread the spout (7E) onto the pipe nipple(7A). Tighten until the spout is properly
positioned and flush with the finished wall surface.
5. Thread the diverter knob (7D) onto the spout (7E).
8
SHOWER ARM INSTALLATION & FINAL FLUSHING
Insert the long end of Shower Arm (8A) through Flange (8B) then apply PTFE Plumb-
ers Tape or Thread Sealant to both ends of Shower Arm. Screw long end of Shower
Arm into Pipe Elbow inside the wall. Flange should fit snug to the finished wall sur-
face. Before installing shower head run water for several minutes until all foreign
matter has cleared the valve. Be sure to pull up diverter knob on tub spout.
SHOWER HEAD INSTALLATION
Place Nut (8F) over threaded end of Shower Arm Ball (8G), make certain Rubber
Washer (8D) is in place. Screw Shower Arm Ball (8G) onto Shower Arm (8A). Care-
fully Wrench tighten. Remove O-Ring (8E) from front of Shower Head (8C) insert
the O-Ring (8E) into the back side of Shower Head (8C). Thread Shower Head (8C)
onto Nut (8F).
Cleaning of shower head #973-151A spray grooves.
To flush out particles from the outer spray circle rotate the shower plug (8H) counter-
clockwise one turn and turn on the water for one minute. Turn plug clockwise to de-
sired spray setting. To clean center spray holes in shower plug remove by rotating
counterclockwise. Gently brush holes (8J) with an old toothbrush. Reinstall plug
