Install the Hardware

AXIS T8646 is designed to be installed into the following racks:
• AXIS 291 1U Video Server Rack
• AXIS Q7900 Rack
• AXIS Q7920 Video Encoder Chassis
Note
The rack supplies enough power for the blade to operate and support ethernet over coax,
but the rack power supply is not enough to supply PoE+ over coax to the device unit and
camera. To use this feature the blade needs an extra power supply:
• AXIS T8082 Supplies up to 2000 W, or 1000 W with redundancy. It can be expanded to
supply up to 4000 W, or 3000 W with redundancy.
• AXIS T8085 Supplies up to 500 W

1. Follow the instructions in the Installation Guide included with the racks/chassis for
installing the blade in the chassis. These installation guides are also available at
www.axis.com
2. Follow the instructions in the Installation Guide included with the power supply to install
the power supply. These installation guides are also available at www.axis.com
3. Connect the dc power cable from the power supply to the blade.
4. Install the AXIS T8642 Ethernet Over Coax Device Unit PoE+. Follow the instructions in
the Installation Guide for AXIS T8640, available at www.axis.com
