Using the sander
WARNING: Switch on the dust extraction system or vacuum cleaner before
operating this tool. The operator must also wear a suitable dust mask and safety
glasses or goggles.
• Keep both hands on the handles of the tool. Hold the tool with the Insulated
Handle (6) and Main Handle (1)
• Do not control the Sanding Base (8) with your hands: it will angle itself
correctly in use
• Take time to make sure the operator, sander and extraction system are
positioned correctly before switching on the tool
• If the operator is directly below the Sanding Base when sanding ceilings,
there is greater risk of dust and debris entering the eyes, mouth or nose
• This tool is not designed for sanding dense rough surfaces, such as uneven
concrete. Attempting to do so may damage the Motor (12) and Hook & Loop
Pad (9), and may make the tool difficult to control
• Do not apply pressure to the Sanding Base during operation. This may
damage the Motor, Hook & Loop Pad and sanding sheet
• Keep the Motor Vents (11) free of dust in use. If a hose detaches or the
extraction system stops in use and dust is released switch off immediately
and clean the tool before continuing
• Before switching on the wall sander hold the Sanding Base is slightly away
from the work surface and build up speed before contacting the work surface
After use
• When you have finished sanding, move the Sanding Base (8) off the wall or
ceiling before switching off
• Always make sure the sanding sheet has stopped rotating before placing the
tool down. NEVER attempt to stop the sanding sheet rotating with your hand
• Allow a short period of time for the vacuum/extraction to run with the sander
switched off
• Disconnect the sander from the mains
• Disconnect the vacuum extraction system or vacuum cleaner from the
Vacuum Connector (10) and fit a brush attachment if available and clean the
wall sander especially the Motor Vents (11). Flex the Sanding Base brush
bristles to release dust as you vacuum
Accessories
• A range of accessories and consumables, including replacement perforated
sanding sheets, is available from your Silverline stockist. Spare parts can be
obtained from toolsparesonline.com

Maintenance

WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any
inspection, maintenance or cleaning.
Replacing the hook & loop pad
• Over time the Hook & Loop Pad
(9) may become damaged or worn
and will no longer securely hold the
sanding sheets and a replacement
Hook & Loop Pad must be fitted
• Remove any sanding sheet if fitted,
hold the Hook & Loop Pad securely
and unscrew the securing bolt.
Remove the existing Hook & Loop Pad
and clean underneath it before refitting
a new Hook & Loop Pad and securing
with the bolt
• On first use after fitting a new Hook & Loop Pad run at a low speed for
several minutes without a sanding sheet. During this process white foam
particles from the pad will be emitted; this is normal. The Hook & Loop Pad is
now ready for use and a sanding sheet can be attached
Blockage in the Short Hose
• If there is little or no extraction of dust, there may be a blockage in the
Short Hose (7). Disconnect the Short Hose (7) by unscrewing the screw of
the hose clip that attaches the hose to the Sanding Base (8). Remove the
blockage with a blunt tool that will not damage the Short Hose
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear.
Repairs should be carried out by an authorised Silverline service centre.
This advice also applies to extension cords used with this tool
