The RF channel is set as described in the section entitled
"Setting the RF channel" in the Operating Instructions supplied
with MULTIPLEX M-PCM receivers.
Set the two M-PCM receivers to the same RF channel in turn.
! Note:
If you intend to set the RF channel using the MULTImate or the
RX-SYNTH DataManager instead of the SET button, you must
disconnect the Diversity lead from both receivers beforehand.
Re-connect the Diversity lead once you have set the channels.

7.1 Double flashing frequency of the (STATUS) LED in Diver-
sity mode
The (STATUS) LEDs of the M-PCM receivers flash when they
are picking up an M-PCM signal.
In Diversity mode the (STATUS) LEDs of the two receivers flash
at twice the normal rate when switched ON.
7.2 Diversity Test Mode
For range-checking (
9.) you can switch off reception of one
receiver: hold the SET button of one of the two receivers
pressed in for about three seconds. The (STATUS) LED now
goes off, then comes on again.
Reception of this receiver is now switched off, and its (STATUS)
LED / LEDs glow constantly. Only the other receiver is receiving,
although the signals continue to be passed on by both receivers.
This receiver is re-activated by pressing the button again (for
longer than 0.5 second).

In Diversity mode you should always set your desired Fail-Safe
positions using the transmitter, rather than using the SET but-
tons on the two receivers. This ensures that the Fail-Safe
positions / values are exactly the same for both receivers.
If you store the Fail-Safe positions using the SET buttons on the
receivers, there is a risk that the receivers will store different
Fail-Safe positions due to minimal changes in the stick positions.

It is very important to carry out regular range checks to ensure
that the radio control system continues to work properly, and to
detect possible interference sources in good time. For infor-
mation on the subject of range-checking please read the Section
"Carrying out a range check" in the instructions supplied with the
MULTIPLEX RX-7/9/12-SYNTH DS M-PCM / RX-9-SYNTH DS
M-PCM compact M-PCM receivers.
In Receiver Diversity mode the range check should include
additional steps; these are described in detail below:
Step 1
Switch off reception of one receiver (
complete range check, as described in the Operating In-
structions supplied with the RX-7/9/12-SYNTH DS M-PCM /
RX-9-SYNTH DS M-PCM compact receivers. This enables you
to check the reception performance of one receiver. If necessary,
change the deployment of the aerial to obtain a good result.

Step 2
Now check the reception performance of the other receiver: re-
activate the first receiver, then switch off reception of the
previously checked receiver (
plete range check, and - if necessary - adjust the position of the
aerial once more to obtain a good result.
Step 3
Now switch both receivers to receive mode, and carry out a third
range check in Diversity mode (engine / motor stopped).
! Note: location of your assistant during the range check
If possible, the person helping you should stand three to four
metres away from the model during the range checks; this helps
to maintain totally constant reception conditions.
Result
In Diversity mode you should achieve greater ground range with
the model held in different attitudes than is the case when only
one receiver is active. If this is not the case, then you certainly
need to optimise your aerial arrangement!
Most receiver interference occurs when the receiver aerial is
pointing directly at the transmitter aerial. In Diversity mode, with
both receivers active, the second aerial will always be in a
"better" position when the first aerial is in this attitude (e.g. if
deployed at 90° to the first aerial). This is the situation where the
Receiver Diversity system is able to display a clear advantage.
! Note: you will need to carry out several test-runs in
order to find the optimum aerial positions in or on your
model.

In Diversity mode the method of storing and reading out errors is
the same as that for a single receiver.
Each receiver stores the errors it encounters individually. The
errors can be displayed or read out later, making it possible to
judge the reception quality of each receiver. The error counts
also provide a clear indication of inefficient aerial deployment,
and alert you to the need to improve the arrangement.

If the two receivers are inter-connected using the Diversity lead
for RX-SYNTH M-PCM receivers, it is not possible to use either
the MULTImate (# 8 2094) or the PC connecting lead (# 8 5149:
USB; # 8 5150: serial) in conjunction with the RX-SYNTH Data-
Manager PC program.
! Note: if you are using the MULTImate or the RX-SYNTH
DataManager, disconnect the Diversity lead from the recei-
ver even if your receiver features two "B/D" sockets.
