Introduction
The DVBS2-QAM Hexa transmodulates the services coming form six satellite input
transponders into six DVB-C channels that can be freely placed in the 46-862 MHz
frequency range (channels C02 - C69 in the CCIR channel table).
The digital transmodulation process starts with the input satellite transponder
demodulation. The Transport Streams are obtained and subsequently modulated in QAM
format. Each output QAM channel is individually placed in the selected ouput frequency.
Input and output loops can be selected. Input loop provides the satellite signal to another
module when it is enabled, otherwise two independent inputs can be used.
The output loop in the QAM output allows the mixing of the output signal between
modules in the same subrack, or (when it is disabled) to have a single QAM output
providing a higher output level.
The Transport Stream processing in each module includes the services elimination, in the
case the satellite input rate is too hight to be accommodated in an output QAM signal.
The user can choose the input services that will be distributed in the output, deleting
the unwanted ones and thus reducing the output symbol rate. This filtering capability
also includes each individual component of a service (audio, subtitle, data), which can be
selected to be filtered off on a PID basis.
For each output service can be assigned a channel number (LCN, Logical Channel Number),
that facilitates the search of the services on the TV set. Each module allows the substitution
of the operator_id field (if it is present in the input) and it can set the versions of the SDT
table for each output and the shared NIT table for all the outputs. In this way, the cases
which the TVs show that a new channels scan must be placed will be decreased. Also, using
a shared NIT allows the tunning of all the services when an automatic scan is selected.
In the end, it is allowed to edit the value of the transport_stream_id and original_network_
id for each output and network_id and network_name which are shared for all the outputs.
