CADENCE HP
Foot Installation and User Guide
Introduction
The Cadence HP ™ is a multi-axial foot-ankle system that combines a carbon composite
split keel and a carbon composite ankle/shank system. The Cadence HP ™ allows
patients to plantar flexion quickly upon heel strike, which provides improved stability. In
addition, the split keel allows for improved dynamic response and greater
M/L compliance when walking on uneven terrain.
Application and Use
The Cadence HP ™ foot is appropriate for amputees with low to high activity levels.
Recommended installation and use procedures must be followed for maximum safety
and service life. Refer to selection chart to determine the appropriate foot for your
patient.
Warning : Any modification to Cadence HP™ will void the warranty of this product.
Installation
- The Cadence HP™ foot is shipped with three heel wedges (6,4 mm; 9,5 mm; 12,7 mm)
to accommodate for varying heel heights. For initial alignment purposes, slide on the
heel wedge that is appropriate for your patient. (Do not glue the heel wedge until the final
dynamic alignment is completed).
- Install the foot into the foot shell for initial dynamic alignment. Ensure that the foot is
secure and clips into the heel of the foot shell.
Bench Alignment
- Bisect the lateral side of the socket and drop a plumb line. This line should fall 12 mm
anterior to the center axis of the pylon.
- Bisect the posterior side of the socket and drop a plumb line. This line should bisect the
center axis of the pylon or pass through the heel.
- The socket should be in approximately 5° of flexion.
Dynamic Alignment Suggestion
- In order to obtain better heel compression it may be helpful to either move the socket
slightly anterior or add additional socket flexion.
Finishing of Foot and Cosmetic Cover
- Once you have achieved appropriate dynamic alignment, remove the foot from the
prosthesis while being careful to maintain its alignment.
- Remove the foot shell and the heel wedge using tool provided. Place a small amount of
the supplied ''Super Glue'' on the heel wedge and slide it onto the composite foot. Allow
to set.
- Slip Spectra® sock over Cadence HP ™ foot.
- Insert the Cadence HP ™ foot into the foot shell using included shoe horn (Use the
shoe horn to remove the footshell).
TM
Warning :
- Failure to follow the installation and use procedures may lead to structural failure of the
components, subjecting the user to risk of serious personal injury.
- Always wear shoes when using the Cadence HP ™ outdoors.
- Rinse the Cadence HP ™ thoroughly with fresh water after any contact with salt water and
dry thoroughly.
- Never disassemble the Cadence HP ™. All fasteners are torqued to specific settings and
customized assembly tooling is required to properly reassemble the foot.
