WARNING: Replace hood to test
after each adjustment. Do not
operate the unit without the hood
securely in place. Serious injury
could result.
1. Open hood by removing sheet
metal screws and lifting. The hood
is hinged on one side.
2. The AIR ADJUSTMENT SHUTTER
(Fig. 2) is located on the burner
assembly. The factory setting is 5.
3. Loosen screw and rotate the
shutter in the appropriate direction:
a) A higher number corrects for
black smoke (allows more air into
the combustion chamber);
b) A lower number corrects for
white smoke (allows less air).
4. Tighten the shutter adjustment
screw, replace the hood, reattach
hood with the sheet metal screws,
and check for proper operation.
Tip: If the exhaust remains white even when adjusted to
0 (zero), there is probably water in the fuel. You may
need to replace the fuel filter and/or clean the fuel tank
(p. 6).
Always adjust the Dragon so that it produces clear
exhaust.
Restarting after thermal overload
If the temperature of the heat exchanger exceeds 250°F
(121°C), the Dragon will automatically shut down to
protect against thermal overload and must be reset
before it will start again. The most common cause of
thermal overload is restricted airflow. To help prevent
thermal overload, you should
• Make ducting runs as straight and short as possible
• Keep the ducting free of debris and unobstructed
• Keep the air intake grill unobstructed
To restart the Dragon after a thermal overload shutoff,
1. Turn the CONTROL KNOB to "Manual" or
"Thermostat".
2. Open hood by removing sheet metal screws and
lifting. The hood is hinged on one side.
3. Press in the red HI-TEMP LIMIT switch (Fig. 1, D).
4. Replace the hood.
If the thermal overload switch continues to shut off the
Dragon, contact the Dri-Eaz Service Department at
800-932-3030 for further assistance.

Restarting after running out of fuel
If the Dragon runs out of fuel, a fuel cutoff sensor will
automatically shut the heater off and the BURNER
RESET BUTTON (Fig. 1, G) will glow red. The fan may
continue to cycle on and off until cooling is completed.
Follow these instructions for restarting.
Tip: It may be necessary to repeat these steps three or
four times until the fuel pump can refill the fuel lines and
provide sufficient fuel for heater operation.
1. Turn the CONTROL KNOB to the off position.
2. Refill fuel tank.
3. Turn the CONTROL KNOB to either the "manual" or
4. Open hood by removing sheet metal screws and
5. Press the BURNER RESET BUTTON once
5. If the pump turns off before the burner ignites, the
6. If the burner has not started after the third attempt,
Tip: If the unit will not restart after several attempts,

Dragon at least once a day during operation. Check for
