PLUMBING FOR POOLS THAT MUST BE WINTERIZED
1. Choose location for the Fountains. NOTE: Maximum
water depth that they can be installed is 38 inches, and
the fountain can be plumbed no closer than 6 inches
from the front edge of the step or shelf area or 8 inches
from the back or side of the step or shelf area. (Fig. 5)
2. Dig trenches for 1-½" Sch. 40 plumbing to the location
of the Fountain allowing for the top of the tee to be 8"
below top of finished gunite level.
3. Cut the Fountain Housing Shaft at the marker
indicating your water depth to minimize the need for
digging a deep hole for the shaft, however this step is
optional. (Fig. 6)
4. Cut another 2" pipe to this same length.
5. Remove the sticker from the Fountain Housing Shaft to
ensure proper seal to the Tee and the elbow.
6. Glue the Fountain Housing Shaft and the Paramount
Riser Pipe to opposite ends of the Tee and a Plug into
the side opening of the Tee. (Fig. 7)
7. Glue 2 - 90° elbows to the bottom of the fountain
assembly and another vertical shaft, equal to the length
of the Fountain Housing Shaft, to run along side the
Fountain Housing Shaft. (Fig. 7)
8. Glue another 90° elbow to the top of the shaft you just
glued onto the double - 90's so the Fountain Assembly
can be glued to the feed line for the fountain. (Fig. 7)
9. At the location of the fountain dig a vertical shaft
deep enough below the trench to accommodate the
Fountain Housing Assembly.
10. Each Fountain must be fed by a separate 1-½" Sch.
40 pipe and gate valve to allow each to be adjusted
separately. Glue the Fountain Housing to the feed
pipe so that it is plumb.
11. Glue the Cap onto the Paramount Riser for pressure
testing. (Fig. 7)
12. Pressure-test the Fountain Housing to code (pressure
to remain on system until plaster).
13. Backfill the plumbing trenches with dirt to maintain
its vertical alignment. If there is a vertical trench in the
side wall of the pool, pack dirt around the bottom end
of the Fountain Housing to hold it plumb and stabilize
it. NOTE: If the Fountain Housing is not plumbed
vertically it will not retract properly.
14. DO NOT HEAT BEND OR ANGLE the riser for the
Fountain when installing on a sloped surface, such as
a beach entry. Doing so will not allow you to install the
fountain or may cause the Fountain Shaft to bind and
not raise or lower. (Fig. 8)
