Quick Install
If you have purchased more than one StorCenter, complete all steps on one before setting up additional
devices.
Caution: Check the hard drive compatibilty list online at www.iomega.com/support/px4-300r.html for
approved and supported hard drive brands and models, before installing a newly purchased hard drive in
your StorCenter device.
1. Use the included network cable to connect the StorCenter device to a network hub or switch.
NOTE: For best results use a computer that is connected to the same router, hub, or switch as the Iomega
StorCenter.
2. Connect the included power cord to the back of the StorCenter device and an Uninterruptible Power
Supply (UPS).
3. Power on the StorCenter device.
4. To install the Iomega Storage Manager software, insert the installation CD into your CD/DVD ROM drive
in your computer.
NOTE: The Iomega Storage manager is client software available on the included installation CD. Check
the support site at www.iomega.com/support for supported operating systems. If the software doesn't
run automatically, navigate to the CD drive on your computer and double click the Setup icon.
5. Once the installation completes, the Storage Manager software will launch automatically.
NOTE: Storage Manager will automatically scan your network when launched. If you receive a message
from Windows Firewall alerting you of network activity, click the Unblock button.
6. Once the Storage Manager Software has found the StorCenter device, select the device by clicking on it,
and choose manage. Follow the device setup wizard to create an administrator account and configure the
StorCenter device. Once the configuration is complete, you will be connected to the StorCenter Network
Storage Server.

Discovering Your Device with Storage Manager
Storage Manager allows users to easily configure the Iomega StorCenter Network Storage Array. Install and
run the application on each computer connected to your network to quickly assign a drive letter for browsing
the device. Or after you configure the StorCenter, users who have permission to access the device on the
network can reach it by typing the name of the device into a web browser, or map network drives to specified
shares on the StorCenter px4-300r.
Disconnecting the Iomega StorCenter
CAUTION: To prevent data loss, do not disconnect this device or any connected storage devices during data
transfer. The drive activity lights flash when transferring data.

Troubleshooting
Device Discovery
If the Iomega Storage Manager is not discovering any Iomega NAS devices on your network, follow the
solutions below before calling for technical support:
• Confirm that the power cord and network cables are properly connected.
• Check that the power indicator light is on, the indicator light on the front of the device should be solid
white.
• Be sure that you have network connectivity by verifying that the link LED on the back of the device is on.
If no DHCP server (such as a router) is found on your network, your Iomega StorCenter device obtains the self-
assigned IP address in the 169.254.x.x range. If your computer cannot connect to this IP address, directly
connect your computer to the Iomega NAS device with a network cable. On the Network page, manually enter
an IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway values that allow the storage device to operate in your network.
