FastFerment™ Setup Instructions
Step 1:
Clean Inside of Conical and Parts
It's very important to thoroughly clean your new FastFerment™ before use with the
recommended Five Star Cleaning Supplies and a soft sponge or cloth. FastFerments
have not been rinsed or cleaned prior to shipping. Clean and sanitize, soak if possible,
all parts before putting the unit together.
Step 2:
Tape Threads
Take the supplied Teak Tape and wrap the following in the direction the threads rotate:
1. Threads at the bottom of the Conical Fermenter
2. Threads on the Collection Ball
3. Threads on the Hose Barb
4. Thermowell
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you put the teak tape on backwards the unit could leak.
THERMOWELL INSTALLATION
Please note that the Thermowell is not screwed into the FastFerment™. You must first wrap the
threads on the Thermowell in the direction that the threads rotate with the supplied Teflon Tape.
Extra care and attention must be taken to ensure the plastic female threads are not damaged
when installing and taking out the Thermowell for cleaning. Make sure to use Teflon Tape on the
threads of the Thermowell when re-installing it. Do not over tighten, as the Brass Thermowell
will damage the plastic threads.
Step 3:
Screw the 6" Screw Top on and off 10 times to break threads in without the gasket in
the screw top. (To have the 6" screw top lid easily screw onto the FastFerment™, the
threads need to be broken in).
Step 4:
Attach the solid end of the Union Valve to the Conical Fermenter.
Step 5:
Attach one of the Union Valve Fittings to the Collection Ball.
Step 6:
Attach the other Union Valve Fitting to the Hose Barb.
Step 7:
Attach the Hose to the Hose Barb.
Step 8:
Attach the Collection Ball to the Union Valve and open the valve.
Step 9:
Insert Grommet into the hole on the top of the 6" Screw Top.
Step 10: Insert the Airlock into the Grommet.
Step 11: Place the completed FastFerment™ into Wall Mount using the bolts and grooves on
each wall mount.
Step 12: Fill FastFerment™ and screw on 6" Screw Top with Gasket.
Step 13: Begin your first batch and have fun!

walls making it unable to use the Wall Mount and could damage the integrity of the FastFerment™
as a whole.
6. Do not apply direct heat such as a flame or heat gun to the system. It will melt the plastic.
7. Thermowell Cleaning. The Thermowell is removable from the unit. The Thermowell is threaded into
the plastic wall of the FastFerment™. Extra care and attention must be taken to ensure the plastic
female threads are not damaged when taking the Thermowell out for cleaning, which is suggested
every 6 months. Make sure to use Teflon Teak Tap on the threads of the Thermowell when putting
back in. Do not over tighten, as the Brass Thermowell will damage the plastic threads.
8. Don't use hot water to clean the grey plastic parts around the valve, use lukewarm water up to
60 °C instead.
