Zone Control Panel Installation and Operation Instructions
Setting Pressures:
1. The zone panel must be set to ensure 5 PSIG (34.5 kPa) gas pressure is supplied to
all brooders.
• If necessary, install an adjustable regulator with a 5 PSIG (34.5 kPa) outlet pressure
upstream of the zone panel.
2. Open the gas supply to the inlet of the zone panel.
3. Open the shut-off valve on the zone panel.
4. Light all brooders in the zone according to the brooder's Owner's Manual.
5. Energize the high heat solenoid valve on the zone panel. See Fig. 1.
6. Adjust the pressure regulator upstream of the zone panel to ensure the pressure gauge at the
panel reads 5 PSIG. At this point, the pressure has been set for the entire zone.
7. De-energize the high heat solenoid.
8. Energize the low heat solenoid valve. See Fig. 1.
9. Ensure the pressure read at the gauge reads 2-2 ½ PSIG. Adjust the low heat regulator on the
zone panel if needed to achieve this pressure. At this point you have ensured proper low heat
pressure.
10. De-energize the low heat solenoid. Verify the pressure on the zone panel reads below ½ PSIG.
If not, adjust the minimum heat regulator on the panel to achieve ½ PSIG.
11. All pressures have now been set for the heat zone.
Recommended Room Controller Temperature Settings
Target temperature:
• Winter 88°F
o High heat solenoid heat relay
✓ Heat ON 84°F
✓ Heat OFF 86°F
o Medium heat solenoid relay
✓ Heat ON 86°F
✓ Heat OFF 88°F
• Summer 84°F
o
High heat solenoid heat relay
✓ Heat ON 80°F
✓ Heat OFF 82°F
o Medium heat solenoid relay
✓ Heat ON 82°F
✓ Heat OFF 84°F
Zone Panel Component Function:
• Gas gauge
o Allows the producer to verify proper pressure being delivered to all brooders in the heating
zone during brooder operation.
• Medium heat regulator
o This regulator sets the pressure to one half of the brooder's heat output.
• Minimum heat regulator
o This regulator sets the minimum heat output of the brooder.
• Solenoid valve
o A normally closed valve that, when energized by the building controller, opens to deliver
pressure to the brooders. (used for supplying one half of the brooder's rated heat output or
full heat output)
