Make sure your bumper is clean, dry, and free of debris. Use a cleaner that will remove oil/grease to clean the bumper surface for
proper adhesion of the tape. Optimal temperature for installing the tape used on your BumperShellz™ is 20°C to 38°C and never
below 15°C. If temperature is below 15°C, a hair dryer/heat gun may be used to warm areas where tape will contact bumper.
If your bumper has any significant pre-existing dents, you may want to remove the bumper and try to pound some of these out.
Small dings and rust can usually be directly covered by the BumperShellz™ if the trim lines between your plastic trim/step pad and
exposed steel bumper are in their original shape. A distorted bumper will negatively affect the fit of your BumperShellz™.
Remove the two outermost screws and three outmost clips on both ends of the lower valence panel.
Start with either left or right BumperShell and peel backing off the tape strips on the back surface.
Tuck the outboard, upper edge of the BumperShell under the bumper top cap and continue until the entire
top edge is tucked, being careful to not let the taped areas contact the bumper.
Slide bottom edge, including tabs, between bottom of the bumper and lower valence panel, while aligning
the BumperShell with geometry of the bumper. If bumper has parking sensors and/or fog lamps, adjust the
position of the BumperShell to center sensor within the clearance hole and fog lamp within the fog lamp
bezel before pressing down on the tape.
NOTE: If the BumperShell is not going on with reasonable effort, a flange is probably hung up somewhere.
eCOOLogical cannot be held responsible for damage to trim or BumperShellz™ due to excessive force.
Once in proper position, press the BumperShellz™ firmly against the bumper on the taped areas from
inboard-to-outboard for at least 30 seconds to make sure tape adheres to the bumper and does not trap air
between the tape and bumper. Repeat for opposite side.
Install the center section by removing the backing from the tape strips.
Tuck the upper edge under the bumper top cap and center the piece between the two ends.
The offset flanges on either side of the center section should overlap with the inboard edges of the left and
right BumperShellz™ and the "gaps" on the overlapping flanges should be the same when installed
correctly. If park assist sensors are present, adjust the position of the BumperShell until the sensors are
centered in the holes. When properly positioned, press the taped areas against the bumper as before, also
making sure firm pressure is used to bond the overlapped joints together.
Reinstall the screws and clips to secure lower valence panel, sandwiching BumperShellz™ tabs in between.
Care for your BumperShellz™ like you would any fine paint finish. Use high quality cleaning products designed specifically for car care.
Gloss finishes: Often times, minor scratches can be buffed out on the gloss finishes. Rubbing compounds can be used with a mechanical
buffer, for deeper scratches.
Matte finishes are much more susceptible to abrasions, leaving a "glossy sheen" on the finish, which are generally permanent. Do not
attempt to buff out scratches/abrasions on your matte finish, as this will generally make the damage worse. Avoid excessive friction
when trying to remove anything stuck to the matte finish surface and keep cleaning rags/water clean and abrasive free. Abrasive brush-
type car washes are not recommended, as they can abrade the Matte finish. Brushless car washes are acceptable.
