Note
Pay attention to all valid fire precaution regulations and recommendations, especially the following
guidelines on the standard use of smoke detectors:
Detailed information is available in the EN 14676 standard "Rauchwarnmelder für Wohnhäuser,
Wohnungen und Räume mit wohnungsähnlicher Nutzung - Einbau, Betrieb und Instandhaltung" ("Smoke
alarm devices for use in residential buildings, apartments and rooms with similar purposes – Installation,
use and maintenance").
Warning
The sense of smell is not active whilst sleeping.
Priority rooms are: living rooms, bedrooms and children's playrooms.
However, at least one smoke detector should be fitted outside the bedroom.
Due to the especially high risk of fires, entrance halls and corridors with fire loading in certain areas
must be monitored using smoke detectors. Long corridors might require several smoke detectors.
Stairwells are particularly susceptible to fires due to the chimney effect.
In multi-storey buildings, at least one smoke detector should be fitted on each floor.
In buildings with open connections to several floors, at least one smoke detector should be fitted on
the top floor.
To make sure that the detector reliably detects smoke, issues a clearly audible alarm and that a
sufficiently strong signal is transmitted and received by each receiver.
Follow the recommendations below
In order to ensure that the detector can detect smoke:
