1- MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The telescopic stick CE-9-** is suitable for lifting
equipment up to 10 kg.
2- JOB PRECAUTIONS
The
telescopic
stick
CE-9-**
accessories
is
utilised
to
mechanical tasks. The sticks equipped with their
voltage detector, earthing equipment and /or tool are
utilised for completing the maintenance or works on
the electrical network and power lines.
During the operation the following conditions apply:
- Only the upper section provides electrical
insulation, this has to be completely deployed.
- The tool is not designed to be used in rain
conditions and it should never be put down on the
ground or put it in contact with other humid materials.
In order to adjust the deployment of the stick, simply
unlock the connection(s) by hand and adjust the
length of the stick as desired. Afterwards lock the
connection(s) to maintain the stick at the chosen
length.

MAINTENANCE
3.1 Verification and cleaning
The cleanliness of the stick and its shiny silicone
surface are the key of the insulation performance.
The label affixed to the stick makes it possible to
write the last or next periodic inspection date. To do
this, you just have to gently scratch the black coating
of the label with a hard tip in order to expose the
white under-layer of the label. As a manufacturer,
CATU recommends the following controls and
cleanings:
- Daily, before and after use:
● Perform a visual inspection.
● Confirm there is no grease nor dirt embedded on
the tubes.
● Confirm there are no major scratches or cracks.
● Confirm that there is no breakage of mechanism.
● Wipe the stick, before every use, with a silicon rag
(Reference CATU: MO-984).
NOTE 1: For any non-compliance during the daily
inspection you have to carry out the controls of the
annual inspection.
- Annually (in addition to the daily inspection):
● Perform a complete cleaning to remove the grease
and other encrusted dirt. Clean with a maintenance
product approved for the tools for live works (follow
the instructions of use) or isopropyl alcohol to
remove encrusted dirt.
● In order to remove the dirt and dust, rebuild and
increase the insulation, clean completely with a
silicon rag (Reference CATUMO-984).
● Check the insulation of the stick with the help of a
CATU MX-215 or perform a dielectric test in a
equipped

notified laboratory as indicated in the norm IEC

annual inspection you have to place the stick in

NOTE 2: For the cleaning, to avoid all conductive
residue or deterioration of shiny surfaces, do not use
any soapy, liquid or powdery detergent.

3.3 Storage and transport
It is recommended that the stick is stored and
transported individually in a carrying bag so as to
avoid any abrasion or physical contact which could
damage the stick surface.
The stick has to be stored in a dry and clean place,
cleaned and wiped with the silicon rag.
NOTE 4: CATU offers a wide range of carrying bags.
3.4 Scrapping
Further to daily and annual inspections, should the
stick be considered as improperly insulating or
unsafe, it has to be immediately discarded.
