1. Loosen Spare Tire – For ease of installation, loosen or temporarily remove the spare tire.
2. Install Rearward Fasteners – On each side, insert (1) 5/8" bolt and (1) spacer in rear most hole in frame as shown in Figure 1.
3. Raise Hitch into Position – Lift hitch into position and align the holes in the hitch with the holes in the frame. Using (1) 5/8" flat washer, (1) 5/8" lock washer, and (1) 5/8" nut on each protruding 5/8" bolt.
4. Install Remaining Fasteners – In the remaining (6) holes install (1) 5/8" bolt and (1) 5/8" flat washer through the frame and install (1) 5/8" flat washer, (1) 5/8" lock washer, and (1) 5/8" nut on each bolt.
5. Tighten all 5/8" – 11 fasteners with torque wrench to 115 ft-lbs (156 N-m).
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
6. Tighten Spare Tire – Reinstall or tighten spare tire if removed or loosened.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
