First determine the correct hand-
ing. Lokk-Latch Deluxe fits both
right and left-handed gates. To
determine handing, the Latch Body
must be mounted to the Fence Post
and to the same side of the fence
as the hinges. Insert the three
short screws into holes 1, 2 & 3.
DO NOT insert a screw into the hole
that exposes the Disk.

LATCH + EXTERNAL ACCESS KIT INSTALLATION
NOTE: The Latch Body should be installed onto the Fence Post on the same side of the fence as the
hinges. The External Access Kit (EAK) should be mounted on the opposite side. The EAK MUST be
installed before the Latch Body.
The Lokk-Latch
DELUxE can be fitted to wood, metal & vinyl Fence Posts ranging from 1
®
(38-152mm) in depth. Model LLDAB5 is intended for 5" (127mm) vinyl Fence Posts only.
WARNING: Using Lokk
Latch
•
TOOLS REQUIRED (Latch + External Access Kit): Pencil, electric or cordless drill, 3 ½" (89mm)
# 2 Phillips-head driver bit, # 2 Phillips-head hand screwdriver,
or PVC gates with metal inserts, ½" (13mm) drill bit for metal gates,
for wood & vinyl gates, hacksaw and PVC Cement (for vinyl gates).
BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
• Determine the handing of EAK (ie: left or right hand). Insert the Push Button into the EAK Body so
that lock cylinder is at bottom and rubber thumb knob is at top (see Figure 2).
• Position EAK Bracket with circular hole aligning with lock cylinder. Align EAK Bracket within the
slot on the side of the EAK Body (Figure 3). Insert at an angle as shown and push bracket downward
until it snaps into place.
• Firmly insert slotted end of Push Rod over the Tail attached to the lock cylinder (Figure 4).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
1. Determine desired height of the EAK by using the lock cylinder as the guide. Mark with pencil.
Use local height Codes when gate leads to swimming pool or spa (see WARNING above).
2. Position Fitting Jig onto Fence Post so that Hole 1 is at same height as the mark you just made
with pencil. Hold Jig firmly against corner of Fence Post so that Hole 1 is on the front of the Fence
Release
Post and the long side of the Fitting Jig is between Fence Post and Gate Frame. Mark Hole 1 using
Knob
pencil (Figure 5). Draw a line across top of the Fitting Jig. NOTE: Hole 2 is used on wood fence posts
for mortising. This allows side fixing leg to be flush with post.
3. Turn the Fitting Jig 180˚ so that the line drawn across the post is aligned with the top of Jig. Finish
the line with pencil to extend across entire post.
4. Firmly position Fitting Jig against corner using Pencil Line as a guide. Mark Hole 1 on the
opposite side so that it is directly opposite from the first marked hole.
5. Drill through both sides making sure you do not move away from the pencil marks you made for
Tongue
drilling. Use the ½" (13mm) drill bit for metal posts and the
vinyl posts. Note: For wood posts, be sure to drill level to ensure both holes meet in center.
6. VINYL POSTS ONLY (For wood/metal posts, go to step 7): Measure the depth of your Fence
Post and cut the PVC Tube (Figure 7) to that length using hacksaw. Insert Tube through hole to the
other side. DO NOT drop tube inside post. Apply PVC cement around both sides of the tube and
Key
allow for drying, (do not over apply). Cementing first will ensure the Tube does not fall inside post as
Lock
you install the EAK and Latch.
7. The Push Rod should be firmly seated into EAK (Figure 4). Insert Push Rod through post and
firmly place the EAK against the corner of the post. Position EAK so that Push Rod is in center of hole
and not rubbing against edge of hole. This allows Push Rod to move freely. Mark four holes for
drilling using pencil.
LATCH
8. For metal posts and vinyl posts with metal stiffeners, pre-drill using
BODY
drill bit. Fix the EAK to the Fence Post using four 1"(25mm) self-drilling screws.
Do not allow EAK to move out of position when inserting screws.
Hand tighten screws with screwdriver.
9. The Push Rod on the LLDAB5 model is for 5" vinyl Fence Posts and does not
need to be shortened. LLDAB models are for Fence Posts of varying depths and
may need to be shortened. Slide Fitting Jig over Push Rod (Figure 6). Make sure
Push Button is fully extended outward by pushing on the Push Rod. This will
ensure the Push Rod is not cut too short. Draw pencil line across Push Rod
against edge of Fitting Jig. Remove Fitting Jig and cut Push Rod to length
using the hacksaw. Removing the Push Rod from EAK to cut is acceptable.
NOTE: Be sure to cut the end of the Push Rod square and not at an angle.
Be sure to firmly re-seat Push Rod over Lock Tail when done (Figure 4).
The Push Rod should protrude from the Fence Post by
10. Turn Push Rod so that it is at the same angle as the square hole in
back of the Latch Body (Figure 8). Slide Latch Body over Push Rod.
Position Latch Body so that the Push Rod is in the center of the hole
going through post. Do not allow the Push Rod to rub against
edge of the hole as it may impede performance.
11. Follow steps 1 - 5 on the LATCH ONLY section on the left side of page.
