in the application:
1. Never exert more pressure on the system than you would if administering
an injection without NerveGuard.
2. Stop using NerveGuard in the event of a leak.
3. NerveGuard prevents injections being given at excessively high pressure,
but does not provide any information about the correct positioning of the
cannula tip.
4. Dynamic injection pressure is affected by cannula length and size, syringe
size, consistency of injectate and injection speed. These factors do not affect
hydrostatic (opening) pressure.
when using with other compatible products:
When using multiple components, familiarise yourself with their operation
before use by checking connections and passages.
Further warning indications:
You must routinely take general precautions for handling blood and bodily
fluids when using and disposing of the device, due to the risk of contact with
blood-borne pathogens.
Sequence of use
1. Attach the filled syringe to the female NerveGuard connector and connect
the injection tube/ cannula assembly to the male NerveGuard connection.
2. Vent the system.
3. Position the cannula and localise the target nerve by the known method.
4. Start the injection procedure. If the injection is immediately blocked by
NerveGuard, it is likely that the opening pressure was too high because of
a blockage of the cannula opening caused by upstream structures. Release
the pressure on the injection plunger and reposition the cannula.
If NerveGuard blocks the injection procedure while it is being performed, it
is likely that the dynamic pressure ratios are too high. Release the pressure
on the injection plunger in order to open the NerveGuard valve and con-
tinue the injection at a lower injection speed.
